And that last paragraph goes to my point.  How is Buchanan and Teemer showing up on campus dramatically worse than Welsh being in the portal out of nowhere and Willie's tweeting "PSU, done deal."

I think the point is.  Posters give Iowa and Michigan a ton of grief about the portal and paying athletes.  The jokes about bobs bags of cash are plentiful.   Psu gets 0 grief and is doing it just as much if not more.

You Iowa fans just don't get it.  Your fanbase for years were accusing PSU of dark mormon money, slush funds, etc.  So when your program got a financial boost from a particular booster who happens to not have the best reputation, the flood gates opened.

Clearly Welsh’s destination was confirmed prior to him officially entering, but the portal window had been open for a week so the discussions/negotiations still could have occurred during the actual portal window.  Maybe they didn’t, we don’t really know, but we do know for sure that Buchanan and Teemer’s plans became official outside of the portal window. This is also after the season had just ended, giving his former team more time to find a plan B.

Oh yeah I saw that guy in Philly last weekend.  He was dressed up like the Monopoly Man, with a tux and a curly white mustache, except he had a Nittany Lions t-shirt under the tux, and was carrying this big Ted DeBiase briefcase with hundred dollar bills half-dangling out of it, promising untold riches to any non-Nits as they walked off the AA stand.

Come on man.

I’m glad I wasn’t the only guy to see him! I thought the monocle was a little on the nose.

They also both graduated.

holy guacamole. You leave the boards for an entire day and look what happens. Anyways, if Rocco and Ryder are both at PSU, that makes the "path" to the championship finals that much easier, right? Which also means potentially less points to be had by other teams. What if Kale's grand plan is less about getting 10 individual champions and more about getting everyone else to zero?

Oh, the calamity!

The portal window doesn't matter, if his "destination was confirmed prior to him officially entering," that's tampering.

Iowa and Michigan get bad raps for always having transfers, and they often do, but for the most part their transfers are grad transfers or guys that hit the portal when their coaches left (Franek & Caliendo leaving NDSU because Kish took the OU job, for example).

Penn State still holds the title for most obvious poaching job in all of college wrestling, after Minnesota coached Aaron Nagao up to a great season and a 5th place finish, followed by being offered hundreds of thousands to transfer at that very NCAA tournament by some booster, and jumping ship. PSU doesn’t do it as often, but are the most blatant poachers out there when there’s someone they want.

Call me bitter because he was poached from my team, idc. It’s still what happened.

They tried with Parker Keckeisen after his Brooks loss in the finals, as well.  He stayed loyal to UNI, so they went with Truax.

Welsh to OkState actually makes sense, so I can see that happening... going to PSU unless there is going to be some exodus of some insanely talented people, it makes very little sense without that context.

These kids these days are weird. All these girls do OnlyFans, the guys play video games 24/7, very few build real relationship and everyone jumps in the portal. All these wedding venues will go out of business real soon
