If Arnold doesn't wrestle McEnelly then he's the 4 seed at b10 correct?.  If he loses to McEnelly then he's the 4 seed at b10.  If he beats McEnelly then he's the 3 seed.  If Arnold loses to McEnelly and Ferrari beats Plott then Iowa might think they've got significantly more points in Ferrari at NCAA.  And no @PortaJohn they don't really burn that shirt, he can put it back in the closet and use it next year.  However, Ferrari being Ferrari he might just take it with him to use somewhere else.

PS: now that I said above Jimmy is prob not going to commit to the bet.

Full court press to bring AJ back in.  They'll want to be in the lineup together

Not sold on Angelo leaving Iowa.  What's the alternative?  Pull a Mocco and head to Oklahoma St?  Would Taylor even entertain that?

He'll commit if only provided with a loophole.  Remember the 2022 Dual

Bundles ... so many will have to call in @Wrestleknownothing to calculate.

If Arnold loses the dual then gets no better than 4th at b10 he could end up down there at 6-8th dnp (don't tell Jimmy) while if Ferrari can beat Plott and with his style maybe Keck and we already know if he goes down on two knees at a neutral site he could beat cstar ... so the sky's the limit.  I'm only say'n if Arnold loses and Ferrari wins then 🤔  it might be enough points for 3/4th bump up to 2nd cause 2-4 looks tight.  Course the danger is lets say Ferrari places top 3 then he's gonna want to get the Buchanan NIL deal for next year, but Bob can raise rents.  😉

I’m hoping it’s Ferrari because I think he’s better and I want to see just how good Mcenelly is. From the eye test he’s pretty dang good. But can his attacks penetrate Ferrari’s stance and can he finish on him if he does get to his legs.  Mcenelly is so so good at that bee line single to corner to feet finish. He just beasts right through them.  But Ferrari showed a lot in his loss to Carter.  I hope we get to see it.

I haven't seen him a lot, and this is stupid sounding.....but so far I'm getting Gabe Dean vibes.

Well that’s pretty good.  I’m with ya haven’t seen him a lot but from my eye test I’ve been highly impressed.  Wondering how close he might be with Keck and Carter. I think Mcenelly beats Plott.

And honestly I’d say the same about Ferrari. He’s impressed me since those who’s number 1 matches when he majored Joe Sealy. Gotten bigger but he can attack. Didn’t do it much vs Carter but probably smart.  I think they will wrestle Arnold here and use Angelo vs Ok St.

Against Starocci ferrari showed a) he's smart and hard wrestling enough to not get warn out and obliterated by a PSU collar tie (how many times have you seen someone wrestle aaron brooks like the plan. was to leave him on their head) b) He's really really hard to take down, the flexibility is real, C) he can compete while obviously out sized. All this is a huge statement for a freshmen.

Gabe Arnold is the only one listed on the probables for 184 and Nelson Brands is back on the list for 174. The latter is a big surprise to me because I heard from a pretty bird that he wasn't close to ready

This is what I'm thinking. I want to see him get two more shots at starocci. Maybe he pulls an upset. He was right in the first match.

You must be kidding.  Many folk on this here board believe Starocci beat the crap out of him, had him right where he wanted.  🙄

I know starocci is a winner and feels comfortable winning close matches. Ferrari wasn't that close to getting a takedown but starocci didn't get a takedown either. Starocci basically won on 8 seconds of riding time. The match was close.

Starocci won in less impressive style than Kemerer beat him in 2021 big tens....

Well looking at 184 last year:

Trey Munoz got 3rd scoring 17 points (w/ 3.5 in bonus)

Bennett Berge got 4th scoring 14.5 points (w/ 1.5 in bonus)

Bernie Truax got 5th scoring 12.5 points (w/ 1 in bonus)

Isaiah Salazar’s endless salad bar got 6th scoring 9 points (w/ no bonus)

TJ Stewart got 7th scoring 10 points (w/ 3.5 in bonus)

David Key got 8th scoring 5.5 points (w/ no bonus)

It’s not looking like Arnold will score much bonus against NQ-type guys.  Maybe not Ferrari either but less data.

If Ferrari can beat Plott in a way that makes it seem like he can do it again, he’s probably looking at around 13-15 points.

If Arnold is not as good as Allred, he’s probably looking at around 5.5-10 points.

So probably between 3-9.5 points. The difference between 2nd and 5th last year was 5.5.

Yeah, I'd be surprised to see Nelson on the mat. But maybe it's load management for PK, idk.

Even if Ferrari would get Iowa more points at NCAAs, which is no guarantee, it would still fall far short of the beatdown PSU is going to give them at NCAAs. Why waste Ferrari's RS to finish slightly less far behind in 2nd place?

Perhaps to keep Ferrari happy

Getting 2nd place is no guarantee.  If Ferrari beats Plott, the difference between he and Arnold could be the difference between 2nd and 3rd (or worse) - which is ironic since using Arnold last year would have got them higher than 5th and maybe as high as 2nd

Nothing is guaranteed at NCAAs, but I think there's going to be a fair gap between Iowa and the 3rd place team.

If they are happy with 3rd to 5th then sure.  I don't think that will make Tom & Hawkeye fans happy.

I think they'll finish 2nd with a gap between them and #3, who I expect to be Oklahoma State, but there are several teams within striking range of 3rd.
