Honestly it sucked losing close matches but that was a promising dual for OSU. D’Emilio and Kharchla did better than I expected and I got faith that Jesse will get it back

Mirasola might want to drop to 197 to have a shot at starting.

That has to be the first time all season Feldman outweighed his opponent.

You’re off your game tonight

Missed that, thanks! Cannon looked good tonight but would love to see Sasso with a final shot at a podium spot

We will know a lot more after this weekend.

I get they have the best team. Everyone knows that and it’s not disputed by anyone. But why are PSU fans so insufferable. Can’t give any team or wrestler credit from an opposing team.

Man the stars were aligned for OSU. So close at 133,141,149 and 174. But close doesn’t cut it against the champs

Plus add in the 6 they got at 125 and no kerk at heavyweight,  man they could have won this dual and ended the streak. Too bad.

Still can’t believe that happened to Lilledahl, alarming. Has he been pinned in folkstyle since the start of his high school career?

Don't remember him getting pinned during his three years at Wyoming Sem.

I love seeing freshman get put on their back.  Can go a long way in their career in cleaning up their slop.  Luke is fine.  If they wrestle again he'll bonus McCrone and not choose down next time.

A reminder that the greatest 125 of all time Spencer Freakin Lee was pinned multiple times in his college career by guys that never won a NCAA title.

That may change to singular after this season

Overall impressions of both squads

Ohio State was on Senior Night and except for Mendez their squad looked as if they had this date circled. Penn State looked good in some spots, but a few guys looked tired for lack of a better word. Maybe that pinfall at 125 changed some of the mindset with both squads.

125 - In period 1 I thought Lilledahl was gonna tech McCrone, but he failed to finish that 3rd takedown and then McCrone cradled him. Oh boy.

133 - Davis looked a half step slow, plus he really needs to clean up his mat wrestling. I thought at one point he was on his way to getting decked by Bazooka but then the camera guys looked the wrong way, then the challenge brick, then he comes back and wins ugly.

141 - Bartlett wins by one TD. Musta been boring, right? Maybe not. I kept expecting Mendez to eventually get to a leg but it never happened. In fact, Bartlett had not just one good shot in the match but 2 good shots. Converted only once, but enough to win.

149 - Van Ness also looked a half step slow. He'd have fired off 6 or 8 shots normally, so what's up with that? Got the tight win over D'Emilio but not his typical pace.

157 - Cannon overwhelmed Sealy. Cannon looked good and I think he might beat Sasso tomorrow. Sealy looked like he had no energy and no confidence. He even started to take a shot and it was there and he wouldn't fully commit. No confidence there.

165 - Mesenbrink. Superman. Next Topic.

174 - Kharchla had a lead and a second good shot as well, but Haines got out of that shot and converted his own for the win. Both guys walk away with something.

184 - Stallrocci wins a boring 20-5 match. Home run hitter Ryder Rogotze had nothing for him, allowing Stallrocci's boring style to wear him down.

197 - Did Barr score almost every one of his points in the third period again? Don't show up with 5 minutes in your tank against Josh Barr or you'll be getting taken down repeatedly in the last.

Hwt. - Feldman looked his normal tough self. Probably the best Hwt with returning eligibility. Mirasola lost by 7 but I thought he at least looked like he belonged on the mat with a guy like Feldman. He'll be OK by 1 year from now.

I guess PSU is hoping Sealey joins the list of guys like Carter Starocci and Mark Hall who both lost their first dual appearance (+ Vincenzo Joseph who lost his second)

Feldman took him to school several times, but Mirasola has the athleticism to compete with Keuter & Nick  it appears. Is HWT going to be "open" after Gable, Kerk and Pindrickson move on? anybody coming back from injury besides Ghadiali ? (I assume he comes back).  Didn't Feldman lose to both those guys? Could be competitive.

Often wrong, but never in doubt.

Pretty decent dual. I doubt we see McCrone catch Lilledahl in a cradle like that again. Davis needs to hit the weight room, and I can't believe PSU's backup 157 pounder was so soft.

It was pretty clear that him turning him on top was his shot at winning. On their feet Luke was taking him down easily. If they wrestle again I have a feeling there will be some strategy on what position to choose. Although McCrone could always choose top.

Way too early take but Sealy gave "burned out" vibes.

Hasn’t he barely competed in like 2 years?  To me it seemed like combo of a tough cut primarily with some nerves

... does Jimmy have a thread on this?  🙅‍♀️

@BobDole should allow jimmy only one thread where he can post his usual PSU/Iowa questions.  It would keep the board a lot cleaner

He looked like a total zero out there. He didn't even generate the threat of an offense and got ridden like a donkey on Lent. He didn't look like a typical PSU wrestler to me, usually even guys off their bench give a decent performance.
