I mean it’s legal so it’s more so complaining about OSU not using it. It is risky tho. I mean look at Michigan, all portal guys last year and now they’re barely top 25

Using the portal is an unsustainable way to build a successful program. How much money is Iowa spending on 3 rentals to (at best) finish in second place this year? Wouldn't it be better to spend that money on recruits that you will have for their entire eligibility?

Again.  The college.  Specifically Iowa or psu or Michigan isn’t paying for the portal people.

Stop with this. You know exactly what everyone means. No the school is not paying the athlete directly, but their collective is. Would never answered last time I asked for how you would prefer it be phrased. Would you be okay if I asked, "How much money is Iowa's collective spending on 3 rentals?"

Drop this ridiculous argument. Everyone knows that the "collective" is just a middle man so that the coaches aren't technically breaking the rules. Each schools NIL recruiting power is a direct reflection of how much money the programs supporters are donating. Bigger donors/more money to spend on athletes. You think Iowa brought in 3 top tier transfers without Brands agreeing on spending that amount of money?

Three offensive TDs, an escape, and a Keuter forced shot turned defensive TD against four Keuter escapes is a realistic outcome until proven otherwise.

Uh oh, your bizarre demand that someone prove a future outcome impossible just timed out! Guess my claim that feldman is overrated isn't so offensive anymore!

You think all of the top n programs aren’t paying every star/stud kid nil.   The portal is irrelevant from that perspective imo.  I know of mid level AAs at bottom big 10 teams that are getting nil.

Lol as if Iowa wrestling and Michigan wrestling are one in the same.

The crying in this thread is hilarious. - I hope this board never changes.

Alirez.

Good call, but don't you think Alirez sitting out last year might make him a little rusty?

Not by the end of the year.  I think Alirez will be locked in due to losing their first match.  We'll see.

Can alirez even make the weight?  He lost to Mendez at a 150 catch weight. Mendez is a lock to win it.

Alirez wrestles like once every few weeks so he will be fresh at least

He has one top 20 win and 0 top 10 wins. Let's temper expectations.

There’s little difference between top 10 and top 20 at 125.  McCrone was top 10 on Flo 3 weeks ago

He had a fall in 31 seconds yesterday.

Yes, but predicting anyone to AA at 125 is risky, let alone someone that has losses to backups and NAIA competition this year. Don't get me wrong, he looks to be improving, but let's not overreact.

Not going to get carried away because I don’t think anyone is beating Levi or O’Toole but what do you guys think the score is of a potential Hamiti/Kharchla match?

Agree.  I probably wouldn’t pick him to AA but he’s definitely in the conversation.  A few weeks ago it looked like he wasn’t even going to qualify.

And that means what, exactly? Now do the 30 years prior to that. This year won't be close between the two. I'm guessing next year will be similar.

Well if Michigan is being supported by Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos, they have far more money than Slumlord Bob

This is one of several reasons why Natty Duals as a Championship wont work.

I'd argue that is what's exciting about a dual vs a tournament. In a tournament, you can knock of the number one seed in the first round and lose your next two and finish with 1 point for your team. The upset didn't end up meaningfully helping your team. In a dual, a big upset can literally flip who is the favorite to win. Excitement.

ok cool? Mid AA candidate loses to R12-to-mid AA candidate without a signature victory until last night is probably the most shocking result since Owings-Gable. Back to the drawing board for me I guess.

i am an idiot on the internet

Kharchla looks solid

Kharchla is wrestling on 2 good ACL's for the first time in his college career and is barely 1 year out from surgery, hence the bulky knee brace. I remember the last time he wrestled on 2 good ACL's he almost tech'd Mekhi Lewis before he even started college. I could see a top 4 finish for him this year. Next year if he comes back he could be a finalist. Most people aren't 100% until year 2 after ACL surgery.
