He's my secret pick as well but I'm willing to do a cannoli bet with you that he doesn't place top 3

Tell me this is not what happens when you lose a cannoli bet.

He looks great but i can't unsee that Vegas final where Lorenzo Norman was the better guy on their feet.  He takes neutral in that match I think he would have won it.

He faces Keegan Feb 2 and then Big12  if he doesn't outpoint him ??? and Haines goes 1 loss he's the three seed. Thats Trouble.   If Hamiti wins the Big12 and Haines has the Otoole loss Then he's the 1 seed. I think that's his only chance. Wouldn't think he'll run the tables but he could with some Big Magic. Could he see Otoole 3 times in a scenario?

just for the record.

I don't dislike the pick, but I don't know what would make you pick Hamiti other than hoping for something that breaks the mold of expectations. Hamiti, his entire career, has been someone who could run up the score on anyone he was better than, but has exactly one top 5 win in his career (Caliendo last year 14-11).

I love watching Hamiti wrestle, but I really don't think he matches up well against either Keegan or Levi.

Who was his coach?

Is that your way of saying that David Taylor and his staff are the reason you would pick him?

I think he is better this year for two reasons.

Who would doubt his improvement? I was doubting the evidence to suggest that he would now become someone's pick to win the bracket. Are you picking Hamiti?

Or were you just checking whether or not I was aware he's at a new school this year?

There's definitely a note of me liking disruption, also a note of me loving everything he showed as a freshmen and thinking it indicated an amazingly high ceiling, his coaching situation went from bad to perfect, and I think he has more to prove than haines or o'toole. O'toole seems a little stale to me, and i think Haines' wrestling is a little too straight forward, compared to Hamiti who has that coiled snake thing.

Wild to think that in the three previous seasons at the same weight they only met once at the all star classic.

Ah, a thoughtful reply.

I don't disagree with you other than O'Toole being stale. When KOT locks in, it's a different guy than when he's wrestling someone that's not on his level. I'm curious if one season is going to be enough to get him over the hump, but I am hoping we get to see the matchup twice, if not three times. KOT is still my pick to win, but certainly not with a lot of confidence.

I also was super impressed by his freshman year.  I’ve also been dismayed by his end of year performances.  Have wondered if a mental thing.  Not going to pick him to win but am rooting for a top 4 finish.

So what are the chances we actually see Hamiti/O’Toole in the dual?

O’Toole has already been confirmed to be out until not much before it, so wouldn’t be surprised if that gets extended.

But could also see Hamiti not go either since they don’t need him to win the dual and then he’d only have to beat O’Toole once to get the 1 seed.
