Kind of a weird trajectory for Sealy. I wonder why he has not wrestled at all this year?

Looks like Black Knight was the only tournament they’ve sent guys to.  Although they did enter Ty Watson there at 165, so not sure why Sealey wouldn’t have wrestled there assuming he’s healthy

Have they sent any redshirts to the Scuffle in recent years?  I can’t remember

Starocci went to the SS, not sure about anyone since.

Answering my own question but looks like PSU is planning to send some guys to the Scuffle

I think Taylor made a big mistake letting Jordan Williams go.

Jordan made the mistake.

Do you think it was a mistake to let AJ go?

I definitely don't know the whole story behind Jordan, I just think he is gonna end up being really good.

The same Jordan Williams who was getting destroyed by Shayne Van Ness prior to him getting pinned?  That Jordan Williams?

I think they'll be fine.

Williams was trailing 3-5 with swipes being held when he got pinfelled. We have different definitions of destroying.

The first period was all Williams, he almost had his second takedown as time expired.  He was winning until he gave up the takedown that led to the pin.

I agree he was winning before he was losing.

He was losing 5-3 (would have been 9-3 after swipes) before being decked.

He was in no way destroying Van Ness.

Ethen Miller was up 8-0 on Van Ness first round of 2023 NCAAs before ultimately giving up a third period fall. I would call that destroying. Being up by one takedown? Not exactly destroying. It's one thing to have an early lead, it's a whole different thing to keep that lead for a full 7 minutes.

If you haven’t figured it out yet:

SVN is the college wrestling embodiment of the “Call an ambulance … but not for me!” meme.

Winning in the first period is great; SVN wrestles all three, harder than anyone else in the country. He’s going to try to make you fall over dead.

I agree.

Van Ness stock soared when as the 8 seed he knocked off top seeded Busiello  of NY at super 32 in the 1/4 finals (9-5)
he has nothing but continue to improve since then

I was just trying to say that I think Williams is going to be really good and that Taylor made a mistake letting him go. I think he significantly outscores Carter young at NCAA and he's only a sophomore.

Taylor wouldn't have been the only coach to let him go.  He is running a dry program.  Something many of the more successful programs run.

Jordan Williams was given more than one chance to not violate this policy and he decided he was above the policy.

There was no mistake in letting him go.  He (Williams) didn't deserve to go to Oklahoma State anymore.

Wouldn't surprise me one bit if he outscores Carter at Nationals. Jordan is a good kid, but he had things that he needed to clean up off the mat if he wanted to reach his goals. DT made it clear when he was hired that he wanted to change the culture around the team and Jordan knew this.  Hopefully things work out for both sides.

Jordan Williams didn't want to lift weights or cut weight... in high school and at OSU. Had trouble with OSU classes and with getting belligerently drunk. When things went his way on the mat he was great, when things didn't go his way you could see him give up out there. Tons of talent but there are some hurdles to his success and consistency has yet to be his thing. Sure he could outscore Carter Young at Nationals, but he could also go 0-2 or not even make weight for it.

Like NC State dry or just in season?

I don't know.  JW was far enough off the deep end in more ways than just being a drunkard that it might be either or something in between.

Destroyed? I put Shayne on his butt and nearly scored in the first.. they go back on their feet and Jordan gets the first takedown. I actually was surprised that it looked like Jordan Williams had the better of Shayne on their feet in the first. I never thought Williams was going to win, as I figured he'd fade by the third, but Shayne got on top and it was over.

"Sophomore Shayne Van Ness, ranked No. 2 at 149, came back from an early first period deficit against No. 16 Jordan Williams to pin the Trojan at the 4:39 mark of the second period" Per Gopsusports.com

EDIT: I hadn't caught up on the thread before replying. Sorry for restating what's already been said.

Regardless of the SVN match, I agree that Taylor needed to establish a culture and dealing with a "wild child" while trying to do so makes for a headache. Hopefully Williams goes on to have success, but it likely wasn't going to work with someone who expects the structure and dedication that DT does.
