This is dumb.  You can count on one hand how many ex and current USA presidents were teetotalers.

Teetotaler doesn't mean you don't indulge in the booger sugar, which I'm sure Trump has for years.

Did a video truly show Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth drink what appears to be bourbon whiskey from a glass during a NATO press conference? No, that's not true: The video that appeared on TikTok appears to have been created by using a phone to film a TV screen, and some kind of sheen made the liquid in Hegseth's glass appear yellowish brown. Clearer video directly from The Associated Press shows the liquid was clear as water.

Here is the AP video which shows clear liquid, not brown.

Trump claiming to have gotten through the 70's at Studio 54 without catching an STD and trying to draw that parallel to service in Vietnam, makes me think he's had his fair share and continues on.

What?   There's no comment on the fact check that proves the bourbon story wrong?   I'm really shocked here.

Admitted  Cocaine Users

President Barack Obama
While more famous for his youthful marijuana exploits as a member of the “Choom Gang,” the president in his memoir Dreams from My Father obliquely admitted that he had a taste for coke too. The president writes about his drug use in the context of self-medicating to deal with the pain of an absent father: “Pot had helped, and booze; maybe a little blow when you could afford it.”

What is so telling is how Trip started this thread and when presented with actual evidence that it was not alcohol he was drinking Trip refuses to back down.  At least Vack comes on admits when he posted something that wasn't 100% accurate.

It being a clear liquid makes it less likely it was alcohol, but not confirmed.  Did Hegseth address it? I know I’ve seen conservatives claim that “not denying it” is proof they did it.

I have no idea if Hegseth addressed it and quite frankly, I don't care since he shouldn't have to make a comment every time he drinks water/soda/juice/etc.  I will admit I shouldn't have said alcohol...I should have based my comment around him saying the "brown liquid" was alcohol.  The overall point is it was a stupid thread to begin with.  Do we now assume someone that has a history drinking alcohol (I have seen no clear evidence that he is in fact an alcoholic), everything they drink is alcohol??  Not to mention people believe that alcoholic's only drink alcohol?  Again, doesn't this all sound completely ridiculous??

Or does this sound more logical...if he is truly an alcoholic, he more than likely will not be able to do his job based on piss poor performance, and thus should be fired.  Versus every time the guy is seen drinking something there is a news story about it, threads are started, and he should be expected to address what in fact he was drinking???

Well to be fair, “the thread” was not created to discuss him drinking an unknown liquid while answering questions. The thread was created about him admitting to having an alcohol problem but claiming he’d stop if he got this position, and the recent story was just bumping it.  Considering he wasn’t very qualified to begin with, and the fact that doing something that would show him to be “piss poor at his job” could have major consequences, hiring him was certainly a risk to say the least.

Bigbrog doesn't have the attention span to follow all that.

On the contrary.   The original point of this was made moot when he was confirmed.   Then you jump to a conclusion that of course is wrong about what he is drinking at a conference.   Who drinks bourbon or whiskey while in a working meeting, especially government representatives?   Did you ever think of that?   You didn't think to do a little more looking at it.   You jumped to your conclusion, and I love to say this, without any evidence at all.   You just said it.   Bigbrog's attention span is on that.

Somebody who is an admitted alcoholic with a history of public incidents involving alcohol, including begging for his current job by saying he would quit drinking if he got it. Having grown up with alcoholic parents, knowing others both in recovery and not, I think I am a pretty good judge of what the behavior of somebody who is an admitted alcoholic is and isn't. And to answer your question? Somebody who is a severe alcoholic is who would do that.

Apparently not.

No fan of Hegseth, or his appointment, but I agree this is all another shot of looking for anything to be dramatic about.

That said, what you ask about….happens all the time. The higher level the meeting, the more likely there is a decanter in the room.

Totally fair take...and to be honest, I wasn't a fan of his nomination either and said so at the time.  But I am also a let's wait and see if he can in fact do the job versus just blatantly saying someone is unqualified because of who nominated the person when in all honestly, none of us on here really know the true qualifications of every appointment ever made on either side of the isle.

And if Trip would have stopped at the OP I wouldn't have said anything, but he didn't of course, and it divulged into nonsense.

Hey Trip...maybe take notes from 1032004 on how to have an adult/mature/normal conversation with someone even if you don't see eye to eye on things??
