Would be kinda wild if basketball players went to play for the Harlem Globetrotters (or the Washington Generals), Marathon Oil, etc. or baseball players went to the Savannah Bananas and came back to school. Not that there's money in those entertainment sports relative to the WWE, but still.

Exactly. Both are entertainment in the same way that WWE is, and neither follow the "rules" of the sports that they're based on.  But there's no doubt both are forms of "professional" sports, just like WWE. So yeah, I would not be surprised if this is used as a precedent for MLB/MiLB, NFL, or NBA players to go back to college and compete. There is an argument to be made that it shouldn't be a precedent for that because WWE is scripted, but who knows if that is a strong enough argument to work.

the WWE didn't like that he had a competitive edge...

Translation: He wanted to kick everyone's arse, but they wanted him to be a jobber.

Wwe is about personality.  Be the hero.  Be the heel.  It has (100%) some rooting in athleticism but if you have no personality you won’t survive.  You can ascertain if he had a personality or not that’s subjective and up for other humans to decide.

I would think the scripted aspect would be the key point.

Thats the only argument needed. It isn't a competitive sport.

Ouch.

Except that he has a Olympic gold medal, so its not like he failed at the next level. More like the baseball player who dominates AAA and then goes to the big leagues and is MVP in his first year and takes a few years off to pursue an acting career and decides to return to baseball but returns to AAA

So how much do we think he’s getting paid vs the incremental ticket revenue he’s bringing in?

They have 5 home matches, looks like tickets are $17.50, he’d need to be responsible for them selling 2,300 extra tickets per match to make $200K in revenue.  And one of those is against Iowa which they might have sold out from visiting Iowa fans even without Gable.

I think he is giving Minnesota a significant hometown discount compared to what he was offered elsewhere. This seems evident from his return video and press conference.  With his Instagram following and local TV commercials and endorsements, he can generate a lot of his own NIL money without digging into the Gopher's collective fund too much.

Is it confirmed he was offered elsewhere? Or did he just go to Minnesota and ask for what they could afford?

Strong rumors of a large offer coming from south of the MN border.  I'm not sure if that was last year or this year though.

Was it Fellers maybe that said he got a large offer last year and declined, but he called them this year and they said the offer was no longer available?

I didn't hear that, but it's entirely possible.  It would be quite a slap to Kueter right after he left football for the year.

Big long interview with Ariel and Gable on here. He talks WWE, MMA, wrestling, etc. He avoids telling who dumped who i.e. the WWE, but says there's no hard feelings and they're in good graces.
