The MatMan Open should have replaced the Midlands, or at the very least you gents who made the MatMan Open happen last year should have taken over ownership of the planning and logistics of Midlands.  Iowa should not have started their own thing.  Is looks like the biggest duck ever, in hindsight.

Someone forgot to tell Glory until the morning of that Iowa wasn't going to be there and Lee was at 125.  We might not have gotten all excited to see Glory at 133 had they done so.

The big gripe,  me included,  used to be how the Southern Scuffle was taking away from Midlands.

Is there no Southern Scuffle any more?

Soldier Salute looks like an Iowa wrestle off day in some weights. I guess if you are an Iowa fan then that's a great day for you to see that...meh.

Midlands did fall apart.... still a couple matches to look forward to. TBH I'm wanting a Burwick Lamont match on teh backside.

Yes... it's this weekend... reviews on Flo.

Can't we all just come together for a Midlands Scuffle Salute? That would make for a great tourney... until certain teams bowed out because "they need to get healthy."

Agree Willie should have just taken it over.

Another location would be great but idk where you would put it instead in Chicagoland. My jokes about Schaumburg notwithstanding.

ALL the tournaments will continue decline, just like good dual meet matchups if the current incentive structure continues

Some sort or committee or commission to coordinate teams to maximize number at certain events would be nice but we know it won’t happen

No one wants to drive all the way up to Nortwestern only to find out they've gotta drive all the way out to Schaumburg.  Scuffle is going to be very good this year, look at 165 for example, think its supposed to be mid 60s there as well.  It doesn't make sense for all the best teams to be at one tournament and have to face each other 4 times during the season.  But it does seem odd that the top two teams are hiding out in IA and PA this weekend.

And then find out they need to drive to Hoffman Estates.

That literally almost happened to me my first year in Chicago. I looked up directions to NW. then was told I had to drive for over an hour of bad traffic to go watch

True. My point about overall decline stands

Overall decline I agree... you said "all" tournaments...slightly different but nothing into a squabble over.

Scuffle: Stanford, Minny, Ok State, Iowa State, ND State,

Midlands: ASU, Nebraska, Princeton

Salute: Iowa, Northern Iowa, SDSU

I see a pretty good list of teams there (not all of course)  with a variety of conferences. A few B10 could face each other here, but I guess I am not one to look out for the B10 vs Everyone Else.... Looks like a very good tourney to me. But of course, it would never happen...

"Northern Iowa"

No starters are there,  just backups.

However,  a UNI Panther backup will provide PLENTY of problems for any starter.

I do want to see how Christian Minto does though.  If he pans out,  he could be the next big thing at UNI.

What big time tourney has PSU entered this holiday season?

Midlands had one of the biggest matches of the year. Saul Ervin, of the famous Ervin wrestling family, versus a guy whose last name is the perfect viral Tik Tok video. Can't get better than that.

Maybe the perfect in-season wrestling tournament is the friends we meet along the way?
