this didn't age well...

Two time defending WC (from other weight classes, yeah...) and it still isn't a bad take.

DIdn't see that coming!

Looking forward to that bottom half semi.

To be fair, Zhumanazarova of Kyrgyzstan is also a former Worlds Champion. She also took 3rd at 2020(1) Olympics losing to the Nigerian that she has next round.

KGZ with the last second TD! JPN is out of the running for gold. KGZ-NGR in the other semi opposite of Elor.

Hope KGZ likes getting her oil checked.

Oborududu is not subtle with that. At all.

Oborududu checking that doo-doo?

On another more relevant subject, Oborududu is the only one who was ever able to match TMS power for power, once TMS hit her stride and started winning titles.

Never argue with an idiot. They will only bring you down to their level and beat you with experience.

Kamal gets Makhmudov of Kyrgyzstan, 2x world champ and 2021 silver.

Maybe I copied wrong...:classic_huh:

A match with Zhadrayev (who has never beaten an opponent from the USA) is a much better first round match for Bey.

It's been a long time since I've seen a wrestler just refuse to engage the way the Pole did against Elor. Almost backed straight out of the ring in the first 10 seconds. Could've easily been DQ'ed if Elor pressed the issue. But, Elor is smartly conserving her energy.

It's not a refusal to engage:  it is an impossible task against Elor, who when her career is finished will be acknowledged as the greatest US wrestler in history.

Wow! The draw gods have it in for America. Can't wait to see Kamal Bey and Joe Rau give it their all!

Fours and gives for both of them with lifts and tosses from Bey and head pinches from Rau. They are crafty veterans too.

i think its her elbow

It was her shoulder. Popped out a couple times. So did her finger. Why she shot with a bad shoulder and up 8 I would never know. Just back around. They aren’t going to caution her out with the 20-30 seconds left.

Does peacock hate Greco too?  No announcers for most of what I watched (although it’s always nice to hear @Jason Bryant in the background)

Whoever was announcing Elor’s match seemed confused about the slipped throw rule

HOLY SHIT.

Ozaki down 6-4 gets a TD with a minute to go.

KGZ goes and gets one with 7 seconds left.

Ozaki was WC at 62 KG in 2022, at 65 KG in 2023 and does not make the Finals this year.  Stalled her way to a loss in the final seconds.

Was really looking forward to an Elor-Ozaki matchup, but no complaints here. Amit came to wrestle and will not be stopped!

Sweet lat drop from JPN for the win. Leg position and back arch (and 360 view) were just outstanding.

Also, looks like a great crows for this session. Vibes were poor leading into these games, but it looks like the French are showing out for these events.
