So that's weird... Why go into the portal  toward the end of the season, ranked in the top 10 at 20-3 and having wrestled just last week? Injured?

No one wants to get Burkwick-Bono'd. Yara and other Ivy competitors will be the exceptions to the new rule. You are going to start seeing kids enter the portal Every. Single. Year. even if they don't plan to leave. Coaches could leave at any point and could recruit over kids at any point, now the scales are tipped closer to being equally balanced.

Should the scales be equally balanced? Should the coaches have some more power than the athletes? Or should the athletes have more power than the coaches i.e. when they want to wrestle, what weight class, or how hard the practice is?

What about the academic students?  Shouldn't students at a Harvard or Stanford get NIL deal for helping make those top universities?  What about the students in say the top Civil Engineering or Computer Science program, should they get NIL, maybe free food?  Most of the commercials they show during a football, basketball etc contest featuring the university are showing academic programs and students.  Where do these students featured in such go to collect their coin?

Yes they should. And that is why athletics should be seperated from academic institutions a la Canada. Death to the NCAA, even though it means a near-certain death of our sport as well.

Their agents collect the coin for them.  For the those studying CS and Math, the agents also collect the undergarments the ladies shower them with.

Yes - they are called scholarships to a top rate college that places them in internships that set them up for life with an annual income of 6-7 figures.

I am all for it.... if you can figure out how much money the university gains by showing a commercial of a classroom with the guy in the background typing on his laptop.

Well ok then.

But who made the kid in the back on the laptop show up or maybe they gave him a $10 Chick-fil-A coupon?  😋

I have wrestled against athletes from Canadian college teams and also know someone who went to university in Canada because he wanted to wrestle for a  freestyle team.

Nobody makes someone show up for Chic-fil-A... they naturally flock to it....

i agree. those students have had nil for quite some time... right from the university. they get funded projects and scholarships.  many people pay the UNIV. to benefit certain programs of their liking and the money sometimes goes to students who are doing the research etc.  or are a top student in their college.

I do get what you are saying it isn't the same, but yeah

Call me when a funded project pays for the light bill, groceries, and rent. That's the difference between athletes and acadmics - now athletes get a scholarship AND paid.

So? Start playing sports I guess??? Or start getting bigger donations for the academic programs?
