Coaching Staff with the most World/Olympic Gold medlas

Recommended Posts

Posted (edited)

1) OSU 5 (David Taylor 1 Olympic/3 World, Thomas Gilman 1 World)

2) Iowa 4 (Tom Brands 1 Olympic/1 World, Terry Brands 2 World)

3) Morgan State 2 (Kenny Monday 1 Olympic/1 World)

4) PSU 1 (Cael Sanderson 1 Olympic)

4) ASU 1 (Larry Jones 1 World)

4) Ohio State 1 (Logan Stieber 1 World)

It looks like OSU will have the most World level titles on staff just like before Smith retired.  Am I missing any world/Olympic champion head or assistant coaches?

Does Jake Varner return to the PSU staff with Kennedy gone?

Drowning in data, but thirsting for knowledge

I'd have to think it's a possibility, though they have a pretty huge pool of qualified alumni to fill it.

There are a handful of world level champions at RTCs.

Jake Varner NLWC

Kendall Cross NYC RTC

Brandon Slay Pennsylvania RTC

Kevin Jackson CKWC

Cael doesn't seem to love the idea of bringing in outsiders (aside from Jimmy Kennedy who was family to DT). Additionally, I'd argue that none of those candidates would be better than what they have in house. Penn RTC has largely been a disappointment.

Looks like I was wrong.  Kevin Jackson is on the staff at Michigan not the CKWC staff.

sounds like a splash hire...but no name mentioned

Believe they may still be looking at Caldwell (no golds).

Why? What is he up to these days?

I think he went with Zain as his practice partner for the World Olympic Qualifier.  Not sure what else he's been up.

How about Michigan

Kevin Jackson 1 Olympic Gold and 2 World Gold

If you count club coaches

CKWC.....Sergei Belaglozov 2 Olympic Gold 6 World Gold and 1 World Silver

Momir Petkovic is also listed on the CKWC staff.  He was an Olympic champion in 1976.  I wonder how involved Beloglasov and Petkovic are at 67 and 70 years old respectively. It seems likely that CKWC leads the RTCs in world titles on the coaching staff.
