Temper your excitement.  No Arujau or Cornella.  Cornella will be back the final dual next weekend before EIWAs.  No explanation for Arujau's expected absence.  Oddly enough, Josh Saunders is the expected guy at 141 for his first dual of the year.

Dual won't be close as a result.  Do you recall that Ramirez TF'd Fields 16-1 in the first period in November?

I think then you'd also have 174 which should be Baker vs Faison - with Faison as a favorite

Vito's a beast, obviously. But with him missing time (and with reliable reports of an injury), are you concerned about NCAAs or Oly trials? I like him, a lot but...

He's been looking a bit more like his old self as the season progresses.  I can only guess that he's going to weigh as little as possible at NCAAs and still have a good chance of winning, so as to make the cut to 57kg in a month as easy as possible.  We will know all we need to know at the EIWA tournament!

the encouraging thing is that he's obviously the type of guy the staff is gonna take care of, every reason to think they'd be cautious.

So if Vito and Cornella are out - ill go with this as a prediction:

125: Ungar dec Trombley 3-0 (after which, Camacho will get the starting nod)

133: Kai Orine fall Ethan Qereshi 3-6

141: Ryan Jack major Josh Saunders 3-10

149: Jackson Arrington dec Ethan Fernandez (I think this could easily become a major) 3-13

157: Meyer Shapiro dec Ed Scott 6-13

165: Julian Ramirez dec Derek Fields 9-13

174: Alex Faison dec Benny Baker 9-16

184: Fishback dec Foca 9-19

197: Hidlay dec Cardenas 9-22

285: Fernandes dec Trephan 12-22, Wolfpack

Hmmm... I said earlier this year that I was planning on flying to Raleigh for this dual, but then realized there was little chance Vito would make the trip and decided I'd rather go another weekend.

I was told that "of course Vito will be wrestling; what would make someone say he wouldn't?!"

I think Foca seems to be back on track and would pick him if I were a betting Elevator.

I believe Fishback AA's this year. With that said Foca so can Foca. But, can both...:classic_huh:

is there any chance there is a roster battle at 125 for Cornell too? greg d looked awesome against Sotelo and also stuck terukina he may be more vulnerable to a weird loss than unger but he also seems to have more upside.

I was just going to ask about Greg D. He's been out of HS for four years. For a five-time HS state champion, his college career has been underwhelming. Was hoping that he would be a starter this year.

Since I've spent a decent time recently manually entering and then analyzing the results of every 125 match so far this year, I can tell you that Greg Diakomihalis - from a performance perspective - is certainly capable of being a starter, a national qualifier, and win a couple matches at nationals.  It just so happens he is on one of a handful of teams that has quality depth at the weight class.  Others notables being Penn (Gallagher and Miller), NC State (Camacho and Trombley)

I was only mentioning those which have to make a decision right now - but you're right.  Kilkeary on redshirt to me makes more sense for now.  I think he's a lifelong 125 pounder - and he steps in next year as a 4X AA possibility.  Right now, I think he and McCrone could have similar results until Kilkeary builds his body a bit more.  I could be off base here - you're the buckeye expert, but that was my view.

I would honestly be surprised if Vinnie walked around at 125lbs and I think mccrone could be a 133 or even 141 just by how young he still appears and his frame. They have davino coming in too but I doubt he sucks down to 125 although im not entirely sure what they plan to do with Nic if they think he can be a good enough sized 141 down the road.

He was the starter his (greyshirt) freshman year, but then Vito returned and we know what that means.  He was then injured all last year.  He's really short (and possibly undersized), so he has difficulty riding and some issues on bottom.  Ungar has also beaten him both times they've met, and has a win or two over more highly ranked opponents.  Ungar is very stingy in neutral (Greg is more aggressive and gets more TDs), is very strong on top, and seems to be more clutch.  Perhaps the coaches feel that if Ungar was just more aggressive he'd be even better?  He was a toenail away from AA last year.

Damn. I wasn't trying to be right. Just shilling for the Buckeyes. I believe your, "view" is a good one. Mea culpa.

I wonder if Arujau not wrestling has anything to do with his opponent ranked #5 in the weigh class.
