I don't even watch the Grammys, but someone posted this and for some reason it made me cry? Tracy Chapman hasn't performed live in YEARS! Beautiful, and great respect for and from Luke Combs.

I hadn’t watched them really ever. Wife suggested it and boom. I can’t think of a time where I enjoyed an awards show as much - except maybe the first ESPYs and the 92 and 93 VMAs. I keep watching Fast Car over and over.

Insert catchy tagline here.

You can never top the original but that was pretty close

I think that many covers are better than the originals.  Not in this case - Tracy Chapman's version is great.  Luke Combs is very very good and I like it quite a bit.

Examples of covers being better than the original from the top of my head:

- Whitney Houston's "I will always love you".  And I do like Dolly Parton's version

- Five Finger Death Punch's "Blue on Black".  Kenny Wayne Shepard plays in the official video.  Great tribute.

There are whole websites dedicated to this topic.  It is fun to listen to both consecutively.

People who tolerate me on a daily basis . . . they are the real heroes.

I have to say when Fast Car first came out I thought it was ok but not good.   My viewpiont has changed over the years, I hear it and like it.   I  heard it again a few nights ago and thought what a great song that was.   It took this long for me to gain appreciation for it.  I think I didn't like it before because of the repetiveness, but there is soul in the lyrics.

Just watched the video.   I don't know what Luke had to so with this but that was a great performance.
