flyingcement Posted January 22 Posted January 22 Since Smith beat Ramos already at CKLV (or Midlands or something), he has no incentive from the sport to compete against Ramos. Although most of us would frown upon that kind of behavior 1
Husker_Du Posted January 22 Posted January 22 i wouldn't file this in the 'duck' category. Smith just got teched by McKee and despite Smith's hth over Ramos there's no way Smith gets seeded anywhere close to him. Smith needed this match more than Matt. 3 TBD
Dogbone Posted January 22 Posted January 22 Agree that it wasn't a duck for seeding purposes. What I find interesting is Nebraska also sat ranked wrestlers last year vs Purdue, including Cronin against Ramos. Maybe the dual just falls at the time of year when guys need rest. With Ersland a long time assistant under Manning I assume they have a good relationship so it could just be a timing issue.

I thought it was the most competitive tech fall I have ever seen. Smith was very close to finishing the double twice that turned into 10 points for McKee. 1

Just the way I saw it. The two shots were quick and deep, though... Craig Henning got screwed in the 2007 NCAA Finals.
Gantry Posted January 22 Posted January 22 (edited) This is the new normal - duals don't matter, coaches and wrestlers don't get penalized for missing matches and everyone is hopping on the bandwagon whenever a guy isn't 100%. It's now expected that 1-2 of the top matchups in every dual don't happen. Embrace it! Edited January 22 by Gantry 2
