Does this strike anyone else as a bit ....... I don't know, excessive, maybe?  At some point, doesn't everyone need to get on with the rest of their lives?

On ESPN's website:

Miami tight end Cam McCormick confirmed Thursday he'd be returning to play for the Hurricanes in 2024 -- his ninth season of college football.

McCormick, who began his career at Oregon in 2016, missed significant parts of four different seasons due to injury, which along with his redshirt year and the COVID year of 2020 allowed him to petition the NCAA for an unprecedented ninth season of eligibility.

This isn't a kid...dude's getting AARP brochure and Medicare keeps calling asking if they know about the new benefits for 2024(which...BTW, I've got my Dad on my phone plan...and I got probably 200 calls about my god#$%$ mother#$%$ing piece of #$%$ -#$%$ Medicare...which I'm still 30 years away from being eligible for!

I remember just out of College I worked at an insurance company and did this and...now I realize why I was told I fornicate with mothers...in slightly different words.

The best is when you get "David," who's clearly from Dubai and NOT named David(but the American name from the Bible I guess is meant to put you at ease while trying to understand what the hell they're asking you) and you string them along for a bit and then their Mother#$## doesn't quite translate and they scream and tell you to #$%$ your mother. I like to correct them. "No, it's not F#$ your mother, it's "f#$ you, mother#$%4er."

I like to think they appreciate me trying to help them angrily hurl insults at random Americans, so...I do my part.

...I took a lot of joy in that...which also tells me I have too much time on my hands.

Why not just let these athletes compete indefinitely?  They're being paid, so at this point it's professional athletics. Barely any of the best athletes are taking legitimate classes, so the 4-year concept is arbitrary. Tebow could have had a longer career!
