Ben Kjar,  and currrent NCAA wrestlers Peyton Robb, David Carr and Parker Keckeisen.  Everyone loves these guys regardless of what team they support.

Agree with Robb and meant to say Carr, and O’Toole seems to fit, also.

Have to add my man Mike Macchiavello to the list.

On FRL they referred to him as the nicest man in wrestling.

That he once gave my wife and I credit for his NCAA title doesn't hurt his case either.

I totally mis-interpreted the title of this thread.  I thought it was a listing of wrestlers/recruits who definitely would never wrestle for the University of N. Carolina.  Imagine my surprise when it proceeded to a 2 page thread.  I had to open it to see what all the buzz was about and realized the real topic.

I often keep myself humble via stupidity.

Not saying I am on one side or the other, but Nashon has been pretty polarizing.

Politically he is (or at least was) but he's actually quite the pleasant personality to what I have seen.

I think Alger is pretty popular in retirement, but he was brutal as a competitor.  Amazing for a Hawk, he is pretty tight with the Smiths of Oklahoma State.  Not so sure about his relationship with Kevin Jackson, though...

he has a lot of the tendencies people hate about Iowa, difference being he's sort of funny so it comes off way better.

is this a joke?

Besides being a brutal competitor he never did much to make people hate him. He has always had a sense of humor, so he isn't truly an awful person. Maybe if you didn't like Iowa back then or now you might not like him. But he wasn't a dirty competitor or anything.
