Historically Greg Jones would be an example. One of the best ever but seemed like an afterthought even when he was competing. Modern day would be Austin O'Conner, if he's wrestled for iowa, which would have been a good fit he'd have been talked about constantly.

And for fun, the anti example, a big market wrestler no ones thinks about and i have no idea why TJ Williams. 1 loss in three years at Iowa.

TJ was a hammer! Didn't he only lose 1 match his freshmen year at Lassen? He is a great guy and runs a great camp too.

Maybe following up on my other thread...Pat Glory.   Unless I missed one, looks like he was the first champ from an EIWA or MAC school not named Cornell since Darian Cruz in 2017.

Andrew Alirez maybe another one.

This could be a long list.  Always shocked when I bring up names like Mark Lieberman, Travis Lee, Rick Bonomo, & the great TJ Jaworsky & I'm met with blank stares

I think his only iowa loss was to larry quissel of boise state in the ncaa semi’s his junior year.

Les Gutches. 134-10 college record, 3xAA, 2x NCAA Champ for wOSU Beavers. He went undefeated his last two years of college and notably beat Cael Sanderson at Senior Nationals.

This is all true, but beating Cael was not what was notable at the time,  What people were talking about was how the College kid (Cael) gave the world champ (Gutches) a good match.
