Beau Bartlett and Carter Starocci win by 17-3 major and 20-3 TF to upset intermat poster boredom.

Starocci 20-3 Tech over a Top 10 guy has to have the other 184lbers deucing theyselves.  The only other person in his collegiate career, redshirt included, to bonus him is Aaron Brooks last year via 13-4 Major.

Cornell with mild upsets over Penn (Intermat rankings):

133:  #29 Ferrara over #21 Miller

174:  #11 Ruiz over #10 Incontrera (decides #1 seeding at ILT)

I'm sorry, but imho, the ref gave that one to Ferrara.

(Doesn't matter anyway... Cornell wins it just the same.)

Never argue with an idiot. They will only bring you down to their level and beat you with experience.

Prob read my breakdown of his career bonus % against top 10 wrestlers.  Or realized he really needs to pick it up to reach the 90%career bonus rate that some on here have claimed he owns.

Remind me of what the ref did that threw the match, undeservedly, to Ferrara.

AND...

Little Rock's Nasir Bailey turns the tide on Zeth in their 2nd dual meeting, 8-2 (1st was the NWCA Nation Duals on 1/10/25... Romney w/ the fall @ 4:14.)

Zeth Romney was leading 2-1 w/30 second left in the 3rd pd when Nasir Bailey nabbed a TD + 3NF late in the period.

keanu-reeves.gif

As of this past Tuesday... Zeth was ranked 2nd to Nasir's 9th.

(Yeah... go ahead and put it in the "upset" pile. )

Hawks #9 loses 1-0 to #10 Bachman of ISU. Hawks choose neutral in the third, which is both curious and questionable and couldn’t score a TD.

Yip, a head scratcher for sure.  I don't expect to see Hawks or Edmond AA this year.  Not till they change their match strategy and just let it fly.  Call it the "David Taylor" approach to wrestling.  Guess that strategy is getting tested tonight vs Iowa.

Maybe it was an issue with his knee, both Hawks and KOT with the big Spencer Lee type of knee braces on. Neither had been close to scoring, idk if I seen a real attempt the whole match. Maybe the ISU kid is good in top, I haven’t seen much of him but the announcers said he’d lost 3 straight before yesterday. Down 1-0, I’m taking my chances regardless and choosing bottom.

True freshman Brock Mantanona uses his last eligible match while remaining on redshirt - and uses it up at 174 for the first time.  In this case, his opponent is 2X national qualifier, R16 last year, and 12 ranked in the counry - Alex Cramer.  The young Mantanona won the match 9-8.

I got to see this in-person.

He still looks 150lbs... it's so damn impressive.

That said, not sure either of them could fill out to 174lbs for next season.  I think they intended to have Catrabone at 157lbs next season, so... does Catrabone drop and Gilcher sit?  Does Gilcher transfer over to Indiana for one last ride with his brother (or both transfer somewhere else together?)?

The Hoosier Gilcher has been up at 174 recently and seems to be looking at lot larger.  You might be right with him coming over for 174 - while younger bro uses RS?

149: Catrabone / Gilcher (RS)
157: B Man
165: Larger B Man
174: Larger Gilcher

?

Gilcher used his shirt last season.

He did wrestle 65 KG this last offseason.  Were Lemley to RS, Gilcher could potentially head there.

Doubt it, though.

I was (not-so-quietly) hoping we might see (big) Gilcher come in grad-transfer 2nd semester when the word was still out that Mantanona might be using a medical for the season.

I truly believe he's the most talented wrestler on the entire roster as a red shirt and the next 4 years he's going to be a nightmare for a lot of guys with his length
