Required homer picks:

87 GR: Braunagel

57 MFS: Richards

Actual picks will go very chalk with only one "upset"

57 Gilman 2-1 the first two matches will be tight and the third... well, I hope I'm wrong.

61 Vito 2-0 and they will be fun. Fun watching him take The Leap this year and we all recognize it so we can appreciate it.

65 Yianni 2-0. This is the only matchup where a returning team member could be upset in my mind. I don't think it will happen, but no one would be surprised if Lee wins one or two matches and contends for a medal.

70 Zain 2-0 and will probably grab a sandwich because I won't miss anything if I get up

74 Dake 2-0 methodical dismantlings

79 JB 2-0 but will be fun matches

86 Taylor 2-0 in two snoozers against Sumo Jesus

92 Mike Macch 2-1 with the "upset" because the size disadvantage finally catches up to Zahid

97 Snyder 2-0. It is crazy to think that a prime 28 year old, 6x consecutive world medalist/ 2 time world champ has little to no chance

125 Gable 20-0 (that's going to be the score after two matches)

Predictions sure to go wrong:

57 KG - Thomas Gilman vs Zane Richards - 2-0 - one 6-2-type match, one tech

61 KG - Vito Arujau vs Nahshon Garrett - 2-0 - two techs.

65 KG - Yianni Diakomihalis vs Nick Lee - 2-1 - Lee wins a 6-4-type match, Yianni with a tech and a 4-0-type win

70 KG - Zain Retherford vs Tyler Berger - 2-0 - two techs

74 KG - Kyle Dake vs Jason Nolf - 2-0 - though I want to give Nolf one match. First match is 4-1-ish, then some Dake bombs in a tech.

79 KG - Jordan Burroughs vs Chance Marsteller - 2-1 - similar to 2022. JB with a pair of 4-0 wins, Chance takes a match 3-2

86 KG - David Taylor vs Aaron Brooks - 2-0 - DT wins both something just shy of a tech

92 KG - Michael Macchiavello vs Zahid Valencia - 2-1 - MM takes his two in the 7-3 range, Zahid wins a 6-2-like match

97 KG - Kyle Snyder vs J’den Cox - 2-1 - Snyder wins two controlled, 5-2-type matches. Cox gets one 6-1

125 KG - Gable Steveson vs Mason Parris - 2-0 - Gable owns Parris. Two techs, Parris might get a push out in one match

I buy these, but I think Valencia overcomes the odds at 92 and makes the team.    I agree with all else, unfortunately for Nashon.   If Vito is the guy we all think, he will have a fantastic Final X.

Your 65kg prediction is intriguing.    I don't know much about Lee but he may get there.   I think Yianni has too many FS chops to let him get by, but as they say, this is why they have the big dance.

I don't know anything about MM.   Why is everyone here thinking he wins over Zahid?

Aside for their last match, which more scored first but was obviously hampered by that elbow injury, Moore had separated himself considerably.  Zahid should beat him easily.

What's the over/under that Parris doesn't score a point?

If I’m Mason Parris I already changed all my passwords so the intern running my social media accounts doesn’t chirp at Gablezilla

Raw horsepower and nothing more is the basis of my pick. Macch is a big boy with lesser technique, but with the cut to 92 I don’t know that he has the bigger gas tank and it may be a war of 6 minute attrition. However by the second match he will have at least 12 pounds on Zahid which will likely be a factor - Zahid is a 79 and I can’t be convinced otherwise

I would hope Dom does a lot of scoring.  Especially since Helen's special guest was there all last week.

I like our chances.

Gomez has two moves:
* Ankle pick to the left
* Sweep single to the right

She has to work from space and doesn't move well in a tie up.

😂. Easily entertained!

Ok I’ll bite like a chump. What makes you think Parris (not to be confused with world champ ParrisH) will score a point much less take a match from Steveson?

Go hard or go home!

I thought Parrish looked good against Gwiz and I have never really been on the Gable is great train.   Plus, picks are free. :)
