Lee is what he is.

Teske starts with a tough Phillippi and then likely Aaron Nagao, who gave RBY a real challenge.

Woods deservedly got the #1 seed.

Murin really got the shaft - he has a 2nd round with Milner and then Yianni if he wins that one.  Poor Max probably won't AA.

Siebrecht has Model but then Robb 2nd round.

Kennedy has Amine 2nd round and then Hamiti if he manages to win that one.

Brands actually has a decent draw, given his seed.

Assad got a decent draw too, given his seed.

Warner gets Caffey first round and then Elam.

Cass gets the 4 seed and might face Schultz in the quarters and Parris in the semis.

Overall I'd say 6/10 of Iowa's guys got pretty unfavorable draws.  Compare that to Penn State where I think only 2 guys (Brooks and Dean, especially) got unfavorable draws.  It will be tough sledding for Iowa to win the team title with these draws.

Teske lost to everybody, he should have a tough draw, that is what being a 25 seed is about. Name me a 25 seed with any easy path to the final, or semis, or quarters, or the second round.

Warner is undefeated against Caffey 4-0. Caffey got injured at B1Gs to boot. Sounds like an easy draw.

So we are down to 4/10. Sounds like Iowa got favorable treatment.

They got what they deserved honestly. Seeds could have been worse. There is no easy draw at 165 or 197, so Kennedy and Warner were always going to have their hands full to aa.

Who from Iowa got the shaft? They got very fair seeds and every bracket seed-feed works the same way. If they don't like the tough draws they could have... won more and lost less? The only Iowa seed I disagree with is Cassioppi should have been the 3 ahead of Hendrickson and behind Kerkvliet but either way he should make the semis based on his 2022-23 resume compared to his opponents 2022-23 resumes.

Why?  He had 3 losses finished 3rd in his conference tournament vs a guy with 1 loss who finished 1st.

Because I prefer rewarding competitors who wrestle a tough schedule rather than punish them. But it's a nitpick over a single seed and the bigger theme is better record vs. better wrestler. Luckily this is why they wrestle the tournament - the results will speak for themselves!

They're not the best seeds but they're ok.

I wish they would do away with conference placement as a criteria. Or at least reduce its weight in the matrix. I do not understand why some goon who wrestles cans all year should be seeded higher than, let's say, a returning finalist who took a couple losses to the #1 guy (not referring to this year, just posing a hypothetical)

Yes!  Damn these draws, preventing Iowa from their rightful team title!

Maybe Tommie should fire up the rocketship and fly out west to wrestle those goons.  🤔

I would love for the Hawks to make trips out west.

But I didn't have the Hawks in mind when I made my post. If anything, I was thinking of O'Toole and the reasonable discussion that took place about the possibility of him dropping down to the 3 or 4 seed.

It makes absolute no sense in my mind that a dominant returning champ, who has only lost to the undefeated #1, should even face the possibility of being seeded at anything but #2

So you want Iowa to wrestle a weaker schedule? If you can't agree that Big Ten teams get screwed by wrestling and beating up on one another during the season, you're lying to yourself.

CKLV is a demonstrably stronger field than the Iowa F-150 Salute Your Shorts tournament

I could care less who Iowa wrestles but if you think wrestling the current ~#60 to #80 teams is challenging then maybe keep the rocketship in the hanger.

Wait, you think Iowa is wrestling the top 60-80 teams? WTF are you talking about?

Teams ranked #60 to #80 are at the bottom not top.  Maybe Tom didn't know this either when he scheduled.  🙄

Not sure Iowa finishes second!

Their nonconference was primarily tomato cans except Iowa State and OkSt. Their only tournament was the F-150 Salute Your Shorts where NINETEEN Hawkeyes made it to the quarters, the runner-up was perrenial wrestling powerhouse Army, and the most exciting moment was a varsity starter pinning his backup in 30 seconds and telling his coaches that he deserved it.

So yeah, weak out of conference schedule + middling B1G results = appropriate seeding where they don't get the benefit of the Hawkeye doubt
