This is 100% victim blaming: What she survived, mostly, was a hangover

Have you read the full statement she gave to the DA (let alone the Cornell police)?  Would probably be tough to prove in a court especially rape, but I don’t think there’s any question a sexual crime was committed against her.

Have you read her text?

aw jonathan i really appreciate this text. my memories super clouded too. i think we were all way to [redacted] drunk and high. i’m getting a little heat (pi phi girls ([redacted] and [redacted]) can’t get my name out of their mouth)) but that’s to be expected. but at the end of the day non[e] of the sexual stuff was illegal and honestly I really liked being w u and Matt. so anything anyone has to say about the gangbang is out of their jurisdiction. I don’t think we should feel any shame for the part. our body our choice asf…

Whether or not it was illegal isn’t necessarily for her to decide, especially since as she says she doesn’t really remember it all.  There’s also a potential argument that she was just saying that to try to get information out of them.

Did you read her words before your first post on this topic?

My wife and daughter hadn't.  And then they didn't believe it initially because its not what the news reported.

All I said, was did you see what the girl had to say?  They both jumped to victim blaming, and then they read the girls texts and shut up, thouroughly confused.

Which led into the conversation where I reminded them that many boys and men are and will behave this way, especially from 8th grade through the college years.

Maybe the cognitive dissonance from slut shaming caused her to change her view of what occurred, as a mental survival technique.  This is my first thought on it...

Yes.  And I believe she was a victim.   Probably not of all 7, and maybe not of rape, but some sort of sexual offense.  She also told the police “I believe 100% that I was raped.”  Why should we assume she was being truthful in a text message to a potential rapist but not to the police?    As mentioned, when texting the man she might not have known everything that actually happened.

We also know for a fact that two of the seven were expelled.  If it was just for drugs then they probably all would have been.    Those 2 must have done something worse than the rest.

I’m also curious if there’s evidence of them doing similar to other girls in the past.  There was indications that this was planned such as in the group chat about “no more fatties,” and I believe Jane Doe mentioned something about some other fraternity members apparently expecting her to be there despite the fact that she didn’t know them.

In college, an acquaintance set me up to meet a girl by having his girlfriend bring her along. A buddy mentioned that she had previously given oral sex to several guys one after another. I stayed sober, did not drink or offer her anything, watched part of a movie with her, kept things non-physical, and dropped her off at her place. She was also sober. A couple of days later I heard she was saying I had given her a date-rape drug and taken advantage of her. I denied it and was vouched for. Another acquaintance later said she had made a similar claim about him.

What does this say about some women?

Sure, some women lie about sexual assault allegations.  I don’t think we have evidence Jane Doe is here.

There is evidence that Jane's reaction was motivated by being uninvited to the Halloween party at the very house she is now saying is where she was raped.  Halloween parties seem to have a strong significance to young women.  One woman described it as their opportunity to dress up as slutty as they can in the spirit of a costume party.  Biggest deal of the year.

More victim blaming from you, gross. I do think being uninvited from the Halloween party motivated her to come forward with her allegations, but I don’t believe that means they didn’t happen.  My theory: she was assaulted by at least one of the men, but was willing to suck it up because she had a crush on Guy #1 and her participation with him was consensual.  But after she was uninvited and seemed like her and Guy #1 would not become a thing, she wasn’t willing to let it slide any more.

It doesn't make consensual sex illegal just because you didn't enjoy it, or changed your mind later.

If you are so drunk/high that are you are incapacitated it does, especially if you are coerced to do drugs by your alleged assaulters.  Even her statement to the DA includes her saying it was the most intoxicated she had ever been and that she was “unable to make any decisions.”

This is clearly a junk AI post.

So, considering how obvious it is, there is one question.

Why are others replying to the post as if it were "real"?

Either:

  1. They don't realize its 'junk' posting (which makes sense and is fine.)
  2. They are part of the scam/experiment that includes them pretending the 'junk' post is real.

IMO, everyone should read through these posts again, and take a 2nd look given what we all now know.

Not the whole country, just the government and most of the military.

At least you don't hide how you victim blame...but clearly shows you should be the last person accusing others of doing so

Well if you want to make this comparison…

Let’s assume Jane Doe was actually raped.  Would it be OK for her to kill all the rapists, their families, their neighbors, and the medical personnel and journalists that arrive in response to the initial killing?

Maybe after they wouldn’t release the family members that they kept to torture

What are the facts of the case?

1.   She got drunk at a bar

2.  She went to the fraternity.

3.  She drank some more .

4.  She was asked if she wanted to do a threesome, to which she said yes.

5.  She was offered more to drink as well as ketamine, all of which she accepted.

6.  The original threesome concluded, and more came in.

7.  There were texts among the frat boys about a sure thing in the house (or words to that effect).

8.   Two boys passed out so nothing happened there.

9.  After she got home she texted the text above saying she enjoyed her time at the frat house and didn't feel anything illegal happened.

10.  She later texted that she was excited to go to the Halloween party at the frat house.

11.  The frat house found out what was being said about her and dis-invited her from the Halloween party.   Didn't want trouble I suppose.

12.  She finds she is no longer invited to the Halloween party and she now says it was rape.

Over the last week these are the things I have heard.   She may have been raped, I don't know.   What happened was shameful and not right.   As I understand it, there were many times where the boys asked if she wanted to do this and got confirmation and consent.   That doesn't make it right.   It only makes it legal.   Far from feeling bad about the event, she assured the boys she enjoyed it, especially with two of them, and was excited to go to the Halloween party.  Her demeanor changed after learning the frat house didn't want her to come to the Halloween party.

The above are the facts.   They don't move in the direction of rape which the original DA looked over and was why he didn't prosecute.  What happened to Jane Dow is inexcusable.   But it was her choice, she was ok with it until she wasn't.   I don't think she will win her case even with Tish on the prowl.   There are documented texts where she says she enjoyed it and apparently was excited to go back to the rape house come Halloween.   That does not sound like a person that thinks she is a victim.   This is not victim shaming.   It is reading the record and coming to a logical conclusion.   There can be disagreement here, but not over the facts.   The facts are clear and they point to a plausible conclusion which I have put up there.   Maybe she was trying to sleuth them and get more info so she could report the whole thing to the authorities.   It doesn't look like that to me.   The boys should be ashamed of themselves for acting like animals and allowing the conduct to happen.   The girl should be ashamed of herself for allowing herself to even be in the situation.

The key questions for me are how much pressure was put on her to do the drugs, and how drunk/high she was.  She may have been so drunk/high that she didn’t actually remember what happened which could have been assault.  Which if she was pressured to do the drugs make it worse.

By the way my overall stance on rape is that if one truly does rape someone they should receive the harshest penalties possible including up to the death penalty
