In 12 seconds … so we’re just not gonna talk about this ?

You fat piece of rotund buttery stupidity. Was waiting to hear from you. It was brutal. That's about it.

MMA has evolved beyond a sport you can enter later in life and expect success. Wrestling is a core skill but makes you far from a complete fighter. G.S. can go away anytime now as far as I'm concerned.

Another example of why it’s so hard to bet on MMA fights.  Anything can happen which turns the fight on its head quick.  He go caught early by a power punch. It happens especially at the HWT level.  If you are not very cautious of it every second you are standing it’s going to happen.

😂 Good point, unfortunately. For a second I got excited thinking that the pure decisiveness of the loss might make him realize he still has some time to go back and do what he's great at, but he's more likely to just keep doing things he's not even good at.

Never argue with an idiot. They will only bring you down to their level and beat you with experience.

I came back to my brother & sister-in-law's house for an overnite stay after a family function.

Said brother put on the UFC fight card on Paramount+... saw this match-up w/ Steveson and the betting odds were HEAVILY in Steveson's favor. My brother mentioned that his opponent is BIG... 12 tics later, Steveson fell like a bunch of Jenga blocks.

Why even bother?

(sheesh!)

THE opening lyrics, (how apropos... )

 Three, four
Instant karma's gonna get you
Gonna knock you right on the head
You better get yourself together
Pretty soon you're gonna be dead

I remember how rampant the athlete hero worship was. Oh Gable can do anything, he'll be a tech billionaire if he wants to go that route. Everyone tearfully wave your handkerchief in gratitude as he steps into the sunset to be crowned the king of WWE.

Meanwhile

WWE: A particular subtype of live theater (acting). No indications Gable would gain a massive following in this subculture. Was cut after performing in middling shows, largely forgotten already I would assume.

NFL: Did not have the right body type for lineman - the only realistic position for wrestlers. Was invited by a wresting loving football coach to the practice squad (which his acolytes tried to spin as some great achievement, when it was not). Promptly cut.

MMA: This was the only path that intrigued me (well intrigued me in the sense of this might work out for Gable, I am not an MMA fan) as it has has some overlap with wrestling. Pyles was crowning him the UFC champ already. Gets knocked out in 12 seconds by a, no offense (I am sure he is tough compared to regular 9 to 5  people but....), a dad bod unknown meant to pad his record and generate hype.

Athletes are normal people. They are not cross disciplinarian savants. He was a gold medalist level wrestler. That oes not mean he was destined to succeed in everything else he tried, and it was obvious he wouldn't in some cases.

Accurate sober analysis.  Best in the world at one thing doesn't mean you'll even be any good at another.

Gable looked really good in his first fight and a few fights before that.   Hence the betting odds were greatly in his favor.   With UFC, he needs to learn to takedown without getting his head removed and then how to submit quickly.   The glass chin of his will not serve him well, that's for sure.   I hope he gives it a good faith effort.   I think he could make some money in UFC, but he has to be able to take a punch better than that.   Not that I could but I'm not trying to be in the UFC either.

Interestingly I watched a video where street punks or youtubers challenged fighters and lost horribly and it was interesting to see the detail in professionals vs wannabees.   Gable needs to regroup, take the next fight they give him and make a really detailed fight plan.   My advice would be to take it to the ground as quickly as possible.   And get the submission.   Not that he should take my advice, what do I know.
