i would just add JO did not make weight for those matches and the RAF rules are such that internationally at least one of those results would have been reversed (maybe both- my memory fails me currently)...

Vito has looked really good recently...

Hence: "Out of shape"

I respected JO too much to say "out of shape and'fat.'"

i would just say if he was "fat and out of shape" he would have gassed and Real would not have had any trouble late...

JO was not out of shape... he was big...

You think JO was training at his pre-retirement intensity and frequency and had an entire tournament of matches in him on those days he beat Real?

There are reasons he was heavy...

when was the last time JO did not struggle with weight?

and no, i do not think JO could have made a tourney run, but, that was not the competition for either...

it was a one off and as such should be viewed as such...

plus, trying to compare a result from one offs against a "retired" wrestler who was much bigger and wrestles absolutely nothing like Bo feels like a reach..but, hey...

the good news is we all get to find out exactly what happens in just over 24hrs...

oh stop it...

just because i did not wrestle does not mean i never trained, cut weight, or competed...

"I expected more from a varsity letterman."

"fat and out of shape" being able to beat a senior world medalist who is training as such is the kind of high level commentary that we come to expect from a "varsity letterman" with skin soft like a woman's who hides behind a screen name...

Woods made weight for their match at RAF 03 where he won the inaugural title, but then didn't make weight for their rematch at RAF 05

There will be at most two previous medalists: Woods, and Bassett if he wins the spot and a medal. It may be deep for a post-NCAA bracket, but far from the deepest bracket ever.

Going back just two years ago, 86 featured world champ and previous p4p Taylor, world champ Zahid, world champ Hidlay, olympic medalist and hot pisser Brooks, world team members Marstellar and Downey, 2x (3x??) world team alternate Dieringer, and 5x champ Starocci. And that is just off the top of my head, I'm sure that there have been tougher OTT brackets.

So, in your critique on the depth of 65kg you quote that there will at most be 2 previous medalists.. (Marcus Blaze could add to that total this year btw).

and then go on to mention a bracket that had two previous world medalists (David Taylor and 92kg bronze Zahid).

You don't get to talk about "previous medalists" for 65kg and then include "future medalists" for 86kg.

I will be more excited for the 65kg bracket than literally any other domestic bracket I have ever seen, and it's not even close. The first round will have matchups between NCAA finalists and age level world medalists. I don't know that anyone who hasn't made an NCAA final or won an age level medal will even be able to qualify to get into this bracket because it is so deep.

That is a true statement. Cutting weight is the bane of a wrestler's life. Especially when cutting the amount JO has historically cut. The recent trend to grow into a weight is the best thing that has happened to the sport in my lifetime.

Eric Bischoff just talked in this interview yesterday about how Real Woods losing to Jordan Oliver twice derailed RAF's plans for making him into a star:

Jordan Oliver would cut so much weight that John Smith told him to go up TWO weight classes

How do they cut weight for greco? You can't use your legs so running and the bike are already out. Do you just do push-ups until you break a sweat?

every time one of you desperately try to be clever i always get this mental picture of some poor sod typing and then editing and then re-reading and finally hitting SUBMIT while leaning back on their stacked milk crates against the wall and thinking to themselves, "yeah... that was a GOOD ONE!!!"
