You made the claim that Flo is doing something "no body else has ever tried", and I'm curious what that could be.

And yeah I think its fair for me to ask since you just said that you couldn't understand the attitude towards Flo, which has been explained a hundred times in this topic.

My understanding was he was referring to them doing a year-round, multiple episode per week wrestling podcast.

(I’m sure the response will be, “yeah they’re taking my payments year-round!”)

Freaking awesome that FLO exists.  Doing a damn good job.  Pyles has a tough job.  Keeping many stakeholder’s happy while also trying to be objective.  Seems like a good guy.

well i just hope you can accept that I think its bizarre to say that running a bad podcast is "something no on else has ever tried".

Pyles’ solo videos are terrible, but I think calling FRL objectively bad is disingenuous.  It’s a good podcast, even if they might occasionally forget what year someone from the MAC graduated.  And how consistent they’ve been is pretty impressive.  (To be fair I’m not 100% sure if that’s even what @juniorvarsity was referring to)

alright take out the "bad". I still want to know how the implication that they are doing something new, brave and interesting is in anyway justified.

A huge portion of the show is dedicated to topics not really important at all.    Singlet wars, wtf?  Silly questions from viewers ?   Lots of talk.about their weekend adventures.     Not real professional

I too get annoyed with it … sometimes.  But if I tilt my head and look at a different angle, I remember that what they are doing is also entertainment.  Not simply hard core news.  The banter can be enjoyable and maybe more so for a younger crowd.  Even with that realization, my patience wains sometimes though.  I bet they pay attention to feedback on it.  Net net, I find FRL more enjoyable than all the other podcasts I’ve tried.

You're putting words in my mouth.

Who else is buying media rights for wrestling events, putting events at all levels on their platform, writing weekly articles, weekly videos, building bracketing software with video tied in, ranking every level of the sport? It's a one stop shop.

I conceded that Trackwrestling did the same thing, so I was wrong. Please, nitpick what I just said so you can argue with me about it.

I had to because you tried to back off your supposed point by asking "do i have to explain?" as if that made any sense.

And when I got you to explain you listed a hodge podge of things a dozen other sites are doing.

Not as good as "do i have to explain?" but still a quality evasion.

Acting condescending is not a mode of communication folks.

It doesn't need explaining because it is so obvious. You're a wrestling fan. You know these things. There's no other Flo. There's other places that do one or two of those things I listed, but nobody does them all. Which is obvious and it shouldn't require explaining to a wrestling fan. You said it for me. There's a hidge podge if other places to get one or two if the things I listed. Not all of what I listed.

Who is bidding against Flo to stream Fargo, Ironman, USAW, and UWW events? Please let me know who else I should be paying instead of Flo and I'll do it.

Congrats on staying reasonably polite.

Your statement just isn't true, in addition it adds up to nothing if it was.

1) Flo is NOT a one stop shop. THEY ARE TOO LAZY TO INCORPORATE TRACKWRESTLING (ANOTHER TERRIBLE WEBSITE) INTO FLO! USAWRESTLING has already made their own bracket website, you have to have 3 terrible websites open to watch the US Open effectively! If flo wasn't so lazy they could have consolidated it a few years ago but they didn't, and now USAW is sticking their foot back in the door.

Rokfin does all that. Streaming, articles, content, rankings etc. You could respond by saying they dont stream anything important, but Flo, the one stop shop, doesn't have any college wrestling content worth watching. So there are two one stop shops.

2) I don't believe you think Flo is special in this way anymore than you think the person who put a clock in a microwave invented the microwave, I think you just put out a platitudinous statement in support of Flo because you wanted to defend it, and now think you have to double down which you don't.

Just say "I like Flo and find it useful, I think your attitude on the subject is childish, mean spirited and countproductive" and thats fair enough.

You're the one who went on and on because I said, "do I really need to explain myself?" I'm not trying to fight with you. You tend disagree with people over minor things often. I do like flo and find it useful. I understand how media rights for college conferences are bundled into networks. Flo cannot get that stuff anymore. That's why I pay for ESPN+ and BTN+. I know there's USA bracketing and track is easier to look at. Like what are you even saying? Did I not define what Flowrestling is good enough for you? Do I really have to explain to a hardcore wrestling fan what Flo is and offers? Chill

I'm just saying I don't believe your post hoc justification for saying "flo is doing something no one else has ever tried". I think it was a cheap argumentative tactic, you were trying to frame the conversation with a misleading comment which you were hoping was so banal that it would just slip through. Even now your trying to back off and embrace the same statement in the same breath.

I corrected myself and said Trackwrestling did it in one of my first replies to you. There's those two that ever offered all the things we all know they do inside one platform. That's a fact. They copied each other, but they started from completely different places. Track copied Flo with Trackcast. Flo copied Track with Arena. Satisfied?

I'm generally a flo-apologist. They do so much more good for the sport than bad that it always irks me when people want to trash them for what they view as shortcomings. Outside of a few major blunders, I think flo's coverage of events is generally very good. Coverage of tournaments like CKLV, Midlands, Southern Scuffle, Fargo, Ironman, Cadets, Juniors, Seniors, Final X, and on and on and on are all in a much better place now than they were when I was in high school in the late 00's thanks to Flo, and for $150 a year or whatever it is, I have absolutely zero complaints about getting my money's worth.

I think CP just said on FRL that the flo-content team consists of 9 people currently. I'm not even going to pretend like I have even the slightest idea of how much money or even how big of a corporation Flosports is overall. I've never even tried to seek any of that information.

I've said it before and I'll say it again here, my biggest gripe with Flo is that their website interface and navigability is pretty horrendous. It's painstaking to look back and compare big boards, recruiting class rankings, rankings from previous years, past articles, etc. But in reality, Flosports is a streaming service first and foremost. I would pay the same amount for nothing but the streaming service, so the other complaints aren't that big of a deal in my mind.

Also, trackwrestling was always trash. We just used it for so long that we had accepted it and were comfortable enough to navigate it effectively. It was always outdated and frustrating to me. The complications of where to find brackets has only been worse since the Flo acquisition IMO. They have definitely fumbled that one so far, and I hope that one day we can actually have an easy way to navigate where to watch live, where to find brackets, and where to find a reliable schedule for events all in one place.

Goodnight, y'all.

This has been my biggest complaint. The search function is fairly shite, you have to scroll to find big boards, some aren’t even available anymore or are near impossible to track down, etc. I mentioned here before somewhere that I’d love to be able to select my favorite college team for my profile or something and then have targeted content, also would love to be able to look at recruiting classes and boards across years (this feels like a big one, as most of us that use the site are going to want to be able to look back at least a few classes worth of recruiting to learn about opponents and new starters and stuff). There are times where I have to get lucky to find a link to something either cast off on the side column (randomly) or I dig through to find an old article that will let me chase hyperlinks until I land in the right spot. I just find it hard to believe that they aren’t aware, so maybe it’s tough sledding to fix or something, but I feel that’s a fairly valid complaint.

If they fixed the functionality of the website, I’d be much less cheesed off about it all. The app is possibly one of the worst I’ve ever encountered, I just use the mobile website

I agree…I generally just search through Google to get to big boards and commitments instead of navigating that website

It is easier to Google it than search the site. Most sites don't have this much of a problem with search. Hsut for fun, go search recruiting class rankings. You will get like 8 results and the newest one that shows up is 2021.

And it's super hard to find what you want if trying to watch replays on your TV. I just get my phone out, find the video and play it for a second, then reload Flo on my TV, and go to my recently viewed section to get the videos I want. Searching within an event works well. Or searching for matches in the app is pretty good. Its usually chronological if you search a wrestlers full name.
