In his U20 recap on YouTube, he said that was the first tournament he got to coach at, and it was because there weren’t many people there.

LJB Posted June 2 Posted June 2 thinking Askren is doing this to prove anything to anyone else but himself is pearl clutching of the highest order... i would by lying if i said i did not feel a little uneasy about this, but, Askren is the most pragmatic and critical thinking of all the "superstar" wrestlers... it is his story not anyone else's... 4

I also just don’t think he wins if he is healthy I know he trains loosely at AWA, but he didn’t even look good JB all those years ago I beat the streets, now coming off a double lung transplant? Ben is convinced of his own genius, and it makes him stupid. I will believe this is both stupid and selfish even if he walks away just fine. Transplants are no joke, and people wait years for an organ to save them. It’s the gift of life and frankly to be this irresponsible with such a gift, makes me feel gross, especially when there were likely others who could have used that set of lungs. The dude is a father and this just feels like his priorities are all out of whack. I’ve had a close family member with a transplant. I’d be shocked if doctors were saying this is advisable, especially with a lung transplant which typically don’t last as long as other transplants and have a decently high rejection rate. I would hope that since he has signed up he has gone (3) 2 minute reps 90-100 % multiple times already??? The transplant involves breaking only the lower part of the breast bone so hopefully there is no risk there. I also would think he has a doctors opinion that it is only a very slight risk comparedly. That being said also he is the guy who would risk a bit to do what he loves. But the match can be stopped at any minute or sign of discomfort, it is an exhibition match. Maybe they just say no suffle's
