I’ll set em up, you knock em down. What about him going to Indiana? Can’t wait

That would at least help a poor struggling program. I'm less excited about crappy wealthy programs.

Cope means an explanation fabricated in order to avoid a more unpleasant one. When I here "by the way Shapiro was a 149 the whole time" I feel like someone is trying to avoid saying "despite his skill, he's not consistent enough  to navigate an NCAA bracket".

Ah, no.  He's a world champion.  He is good enough.

So Antrell is moving up to 165 for sure then?

Trelly was never moving up to 165. If meyer goes to Nebraska he will either have to be a 149 or redshirt.

Was Cornell always a clear cut decision for Meyer when he committed in HS or were any other school close to landing him?

He talked about loving Nebraska and coach Manning out of HS but Cornell was the fit for him

Not sure if Meyer can make that cut to 149. If he can hes an instant #1. If not a redshirt behind Trelly would be beneficial for him as well. Seems like a win win for him. Meyer would fit in well in the room

I'm not being sarcastic, but who is a guy that redshirted after 3 years in a college room and came back better? It's one of the reasons I wasn't a big fan of Vtech shelfing Henson this year. I have no doubt that he'll be very good next year, but I do wonder if he'll be the same guy he was before.

I understand a TRFR year RS, the guys are still hungry and likely to make big jumps with a strong hunger to get ready to compete in college, but it doesn't seem like it has a similar effect on guys that have already been through the grind multiple years. I can't help but wonder if a year away from active competition makes it harder to get back into the grind of weekly weigh-ins, intentional practice each day, etc. I think a year out of competition can have a negative impact on a guys hunger. It's not as simple as turning it on and off. Once you've turned it off for the first time in your life, I don't think it comes back as strong for a lot of guys.

I think you are mostly correct on taking a redshirt late in your career.  However Nico Megaludis did it and came back and finally won a championship. So it can be done.

I agree with you on the late redshirt, for the most part guys lose the edge it seems.  Ridge Lovett took a late redshirt, got 6th but was a or the top guy most of that year (had a semi-slide at NCAA's) after the Henson loss. Then won it the following year...I  believe those were years' 5 and 6 after his RS. I think you are generally correct, just a lot of Nebraska talk on here and he stuck out in my memory.  I don't see it likely Meyer ends up there but I have no inside information. I am thinking maybe UNC.

Not according to Ohio State...

I have heard they're both going up. That's why I put an if in front of the statement. I figured a potential title contender from the portal could force Stiles to stay down.

I'd be excited if Meyer Shapiro came to Ohio State.

A redshirt seems necessary for Meyer Shapiro if he goes to Nebraska. Antrell and Arajuo at 157 and 165, which would be good practice partners there plus James Green, Lovett

Shoot JB and Ridge both took late redshirts. Perfect situation for meyer! Let alone the wrestling partners and coaches he'd have!

Unless he can cut to 149. Nebraska can probably give him the option to try to cut or redshirt.

Meyer isn't coming for free and Nebraska doesn't have the budget to have that much NIL in redshirt.  It makes sense that Nebraska kicked the tires (who wouldn't) which led to Mineo running with it but it seems like a pipe dream.
