How much does Jake Paul pay his opponents?
red viking replied to Tripnsweep's topic in Non Wrestling Topics
I've still never r watched him fight live, and won't. From the highlights though., he looks pretty good to me. I think its just washed up fighters, not getting paid off. Maybe a top 50 fighter? -

Caitlyn Davis definitely is talking about it. -

Snake oil it seems to be. Peer reviewed studies didn't appear to demonstrate any significant improvements. -
ahh ... 5. Minors in the sauna and locker room ...
-
No... 1. No, it was not "passed along" to police. Beau reported it to police directly. Cael did not encourage him to report it. "While Sanderson stated the program would support whatever decision Bartlett made to investigate the incident, Beau said it felt to him more like a public relations comment than real care." 2. Cael directly witnessed Carter assaulting teammates and did nothing. "Beau, Oliver and another teammate all told the Collegian that Starocci continued to touch other wrestlers inappropriately in the training room, sometimes in front of Sanderson. They also reported knowledge of rumors of Starocci’s sexual misconduct and inappropriate interactions with minors." 3. The photos were reported to Cael. "Beau said the photos were reported to Sanderson along with the theft, but nothing came of it from the coach." 4. The teammates reported the sexual misconduct as well. See #2

Carter Starocci faces allegations of sexual assault and theft

I gave him a B for well thought out BS, didn't say believable just a BS story that's plausible. Again not related unless you think Casey left the unmarked bottle of over the counter meds in the sauna. -

I just searched her name and there is one article saying she’s no longer the coach and that’s about it. Even on xtwitter a search of her name reveals zero posts since 4 months prior to her no longer being the coach. Whatever happened, it looks like quite literally, no one is talking about it -
Beware the appeal of coaching change. It happens in all sports. Ryan was added to the conversation because it is the same situation. You have the last two coaches to win national championships, but with no clear path to another despite consistent top 5 finishes. With Brands, you see have seen a pattern of underachievement in recruiting. You need to recruit an average of 3 blue chippers every year and it has been lacking. He has very successfully filled the void with transfers, thanks to a nice war chest of NIL money. Penn State was no different. They had one star recruit, Haines, a few years ago. They filled some holes with transfers, then filled it back up with the last few years. This year was the going to be the uptick for Iowa. They have DeLuca, Luddington, Ferrari. They were getting Bassett and Mocco. They were the favorite for the twins. Now they have lost Bassett and the twins went to OSU. "Fire the coach!!!!!!" Will Pittsburgh fire Tomlin? The Dallas Stars fired their coach. The Knicks fired their coach. Lots of successful coaches get fired while they look for the one that can take them to the championship. The problem is always the same. The next coach is 95% likely to be no better and probably worse than the one you fired. But, if the championship trophy is all you care about, you take the shot. Choose wisely. There were a lot of coaches and losses in between Bear Bryant and Nick Saban.

Yeah, don’t think it’s fair to include tOSU also since Strauss wasn’t really part of the wrestling community. -

He is yet another wrestler at Penn state who got a degree in Parks, Recreation and Leisure Studies That can’t be all that hard. Seems like a good % of the team majors in that. Wonder why? - Today

Holy cow his page is bonkers. Does he have a thread here dedicated to daily dissection?

Nothing particularly unusual in society or specific to wrestling. That we find out about such things might be considered progress -
Cael is a narcissistic manipulative prick who happens to be a great recruiter and coach. He doess everything in secrete while having fun. He thinks he is untouchable above reproach. He is a complete ethical fraud.

It’s a joke and an embarrassment to combat sports. It should go the professional wrestling route and be dubbed ‘entertainment’…..perfect for those who find ignorance entertaining. -
Why would you assume the photos were reported to police?
-
1. Theft - Cael knew and it was passed along to University Park police, who have jurisdiction over the crime. 2. Inappropriate actions on the mat - We don't know what, if anything, was reported to coaches, whether it was addressed by coaches, whether it was condoned or continued, or stopped. It will come out. 3. Photos on Group Chat - See above. 4. Sexual assault - the most serious of issues. It is unclear if the accusations were reported to anyone. It clearly wasn't reported to law enforcement, or they would have been obligated to open a case file on it. One thing that is missing from the reporting is the timeline of each step of the above events, and the timeline of awareness and response by staff. You pose the right questions, but the order is wrong. Will we get the facts, or not? If yes, we can answer the other questions.

Brooks story: True or False?
Dark Energy replied to Interviewed_at_Weehawken's topic in International Wrestling
Supposedly an over the counter supplement from Wegmans. Per his dad. No idea if true. I find it hard to believe that a wrestler of his status and his accesss to support resources would take something like this without having an expert check it out for him. It kind of defies belief. Seems like a willful act of disobedience or Penn State has to reflect on how a person of such low intelligence could possibly have earned a degree there. Again, if true. https://www.heraldmailmedia.com/story/sports/2025/06/27/star-wrestler-aaron-brooks-2024-olympic-medalist-faces-possible-suspension-for-failed-drug-test/84394953007/ Edit - per his dad, Aaron didn’t even read the label. Ok. -

They’re similar in the sense that both wrestlers are making excuses for why they failed. You only think they’re different because you find Fix’s excuse more plausible. But giving him a “B” for plausibility is laughable IMO. I don’t see any way Derek would have left PED’s in an unmarked water bottle in an easily accessible refrigerator, as in addition to Daton there were other children living there. -

Any information on what was found? Is it something that is in "over the counter" medicine or some food he would eat? We don't have enough information, yet. -
The Coach being Cael. A Wrestler who is setting records every time he steps on the mat. Then, some troubling allegations & apparently a law enforcement investigation becomes part of the scene. Maybe he has reports of activity that can bounce this guy off the team, maybe out of school & even into prison? Cael is one who plays it close. Keeps things quiet. We know he is honorable & supports his guys. Talk to the wrestler? Most probably. Maybe gets assurances the story(ies?) are not accurate, maybe just rumors? You want to believe your guy. You have a level of trust built up over a number of years. So, talk to him, set boundaries more firmly & want to believe it is jealousy or somewhat that is fueling the story. No police action is taken, just rumors? Six months and your wrestler isn't even interviewed by Law Enforcement - what do you think? Not a High Priority? At Penn State? Where Sandusky/Paterno is the living Nightmare that won't leave? My guess - (only a guess, maybe a hope) is that Cael got reports & talked to Starocci & got assurances from him. Then, when nothing happens on the legal front, lets it ride? Very different from J Robinson, who actively protected his guys from a system that would have had life long negative consequences - and paid dearly for it. Is Cael too trusting? Is he blind, maybe willfully ignoring reality? Do his Assistants/Co Head Coaches figure prominently into this as well? Will we get the facts, or not?

How much does Jake Paul pay his opponents?
GreatWhiteNorth replied to Tripnsweep's topic in Non Wrestling Topics
He pays them as employees. From what I understand, the pay is generous. Why not. It's not like any of them have been real matches. As close to being scripted without actually being scripted as is possible (with one match going a bit off script.) It's not 'real' boxing in any way, shape, or form. It's more like 'play' boxing for millennials who know nothing about boxing but will pay to watch exhibition matches. This sort of thing won't save real boxing, but it will make money. If a bit of that money were to go toward real boxing... -
