  7. I wrestled Veteran when I lived in MN and was a volunteer asst coach at the HS and went with them to UM for FS training with the college guys as coaches. It was a good way to get in shape and hone in on the skills. I didn't have much skill in the first place so my improvement wasn't the greatest. But I had a lot of fun doing it and didn't get hurt too seriously. I did go to some tourneys around and saw one guy totally dislocate his lower leg, I'm sure ACLs and MCLs were compromised and he had no insurance. So before you do this, make sure you have medical insurance. And know you can get hurt. I was fortunate and didn't get hurt doing Veterans but I did get hurt wrestling a HS kid who put me in a half and I refused to be turned but my shoulder had other ideas. I'd say be a coach for the kids and participate in any old timers tourneys in your area. The kids are way faster than the older dudes, including you. Have fun. mspart
  8. More than CA, more than NC. Highest in the nation. I lived in HI and it is more expensive in WA than there. There just isn't enough money yet they are getting more money with $8 billion in new taxes this year alone. We just don't have the money to maintain roads and bridges and stuff unless we get even more. WE have a $0.50/gal carbon tax on gas and diesel that does not go to roads and bridges, it goes anywhere else. We have $0.59/gal gas tax and $0.58/gal diesel tax and the state cries foul. At diesel prices at $5.29/gal where I live, that is a 20% "profit" margin for the state and they don't do anything. The state claims poverty due to their pushing EV sales and very fuel efficient cars that most of us around here drive which drives down the revenue. But they are making plenty. The CO2 tax is for gas, diesel, Nat Gas, propane and the rest. That raises the cost of shipping and transporting of food, and appliances, and everything in between. And yet they have no funds to fix roads and bridges. mspart

  16. I had heard he went to UVU as well, But https://ushe.edu/statement-from-the-utah-board-of-higher-education-on-suspect/ Statement from the Utah Board of Higher Education on Suspect September 12, 2025 In response to the arrest of the suspect in the killing of Charlie Kirk, we can confirm that Tyler James Robinson is a third-year student in the electrical apprenticeship program at Dixie Technical College. He briefly attended Utah State University (one semester in 2021) and received concurrent enrollment credit through Utah Tech University while in high school (2019-2021). It looks like he went to Utah State. That's in Logan which is north of Salt Lake City by an hour or two. I had not heard this info so this is new to me. mspart
  17. I stole that from RV because he always right. My bad. I’ll look it up next time.
  18. Boy could this be whatabouted all day long. mspart
  19. Why not? We havent been following rules for a couple decades now so ...
  20. Trump doesn't care about rooting out corruption. He's probably mad that Homan didn't ask for more and that he didn't get a cut.
  21. I love the "any 6 wrestlers" schtick, very reminiscent of Quintet and now CJI (both BJJ competitions). However, I don't know if the format will be as adaptable to wrestling as it's been to BJJ. Not sure how much I love the actual ruleset, but it's interesting for sure. I think once I see it in action it will make more sense. I wish them all the best, wrestling needs a professional league (or a few), but we aren't positioned for one the way other sports are. I hope they can build something cool.
  22. It's interesting to see people talking to themselves.
  23. Nicely put. I think however he develops an approach to managing nerves, he should enter tournaments to give himself reps with that approach. If you've got a competition related issue, the only way you can develop a different approach is with competition reps.
  24. Thanks, I have been here and contacted the clubs that it lists.
  25. I believe you and Red Viking are confused or just incorrect. The murder took place at Utah Valley University. The shooter, Tyler Robinson, was formerly a student at Utah State University not Utah Valley.
  26. In a nutshell, here's what I've gathered about the rules: Dual format. Folkstyle rules, but: 4 periods, 5min total 1st period - 90sec; 2nd - 60sec, Wrestler A on top; 3rd - 60sec, Wrestler A on bottom; 4th - 90sec optional choice 2pt TD 1pt bonus if a wrestler scores in first 10sec of the period 1pt push out, no grounding 2pt exposure 2pt riding time, must rideout the entire period 1pt for pylon knockdown during mat wrestling(!) 1pt for receiving optional choice Quicker stalling and stalemate calls Clinch for OT No singlets Dual scoring: Win = 5 team points + match point differential 25 team points for pinfellery 6 wrestlers per team, 1000lb "budget", put out any lineup up to 1000lbs on the fly (so, you could see a 145lber vs. a 197lber) I'm sure they'll tweak the rules and format further, but they look good! We'll see how it actually works out
