Penn State University police investigating? Nothing has changed since Paterno and Sandusky. It’s a community driven by athletic department interests. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
I'll read the article when I have a minute. But whether he was warned about a coming ice age in high school (is he serious?), or not, the science surrounding climate change is consistent. Antarctic ice melt and ice core sample data (not to mention 100+ years of temperature records) illustrate our climate has been warming since the mid 17th century. So far at least, the author agrees. Although correlation doesn't indicate causation, it's certainly interesting that the warming timeline begins with the Industrial Revolution and accelerates in lockstep with our fossil fuel consumption. Science has also consistently demonstrated the mechanism by which fossil fuel burning might heat up a planet with our atmosphere (through the depletion of atmospheric ozone, increased carbon dioxide production, and subsequent greenhouse effect). A mechanism that matches our own atmospheric observations. But frankly, who cares whether we're wholly responsible, merely a contributor, or somehow, completely innocent? Certainly not the consequences, which we're only just beginning to experience (e.g. wildfires and hurricanes are suddenly becoming much more common, and much more destructive). And the author's 'gotcha' comments about incorrect predictions? Early predictions about Antarctic ice melt and ozone depletion were wrong. What he neglects to mention? That the predictions were actually way too optimistic.

Why is Tom Ryan even in this conversation? He is probably closer to retiring than Brands. JB is the only person who makes sense in the short term. He would attract a lot of recruits, generate excitement and hire a killer staff. That being said I don’t think Tom has any desire to hang it up soon. So I predict that he goes through 2028 then Spencer retires and Tom does a warm hand off with Spencer taking over after a year as assistant.

Yes. Give Ryan at OSU at a Bob Nicholls and I'd bet they compete with PSU...or are more competitive at least. Okie State... we already know. They went from a legend...one of the few coaches and athletes who was more decorated than either TnT. Great recruiting and great coaching is... what wins titles. Iowa had a group that maybe could have silenced the doubters with Keuter, Arnold, Ferrari, Deluca, Bassett, Miller, Mocco. They were gonna be STACKED from '49 up and they always find lightweight studs. '25 Deluca '33 Hernandez '41??? They'd find someone like Bailey '49 Bassett '57 Estrada(Or better, but I think HE is type of guy who needs the work on scrambling that Iowa doesn't provide. '65 Miller - We remember he NEARLY BEAT PJ DUKE '74 Arnold If he figures it out, he should contend for titles. '84 I'd say 3-4X NC potential(and he does have that potential) but I'd say it with my chest more, but this is the toughest weight moving forwrad. Sinclair, McEnelly, Ryder, Welsh and Ferrari? '97- Ludington? He's a stud HWT- Kueter NC This could have been their team for 2028 But...they can replace Bassett and Miler, they have good recruits, but I just see really good Wrestlers coming in and they can brawl or they're good at whatever they're good a and I don't see them really developing anything than what they came in with and it's usually brawling. I think Melvin Miller may have been a great fit...I don't know if Basett would have seen nearly as much improvement. But...who knows. And Iowa seems content to MOSTLY be 2nd best.

Over on the Penn State forum, a lot of the cult members (who preach "In Cael We Trust") are either defending Starocci (passively, actively, or passive aggressively), criticizing the reporting (when they are also unaware of what fully happened), or questioning Bartlett's account, words, or actions in either staying at Penn State through the years or now leaving. It's such a cult obsessed with Iowa; prone to religiosity; and focused on excommunicating anyone who doesn't toe the party line. While one naturally shouldn't "convict" solely on this basis, Starocci's character, as evidenced by his words, tweets, macho posturing and preening, threats to others, and self-involvement have repeatedly raised questions about who he really is; whereas Bartlett comes across as a likable stand-up guy, a supportive team member, and a humble athlete who respects his opponents.

That is my concern. Ben Askren isn't a normal schmuck like us who go to the Hospital, get home, get a bill and we say, 'well gee, this should have been covered.' It's one of the bigger news in sports. So if the insurance company is going to contest it...EVEN if he were a normal schmuck, you'd appeal it and then you'd have Hospital social workers who could help you navigate this, but a guy with money and a massive following? I won't entertain anymore of the stupid 'wow.... you don't know insurance companies suck,' posts, but for them to do this-this brazenly...it at LEAST makes you wonder if it's NOT an illegitimate denial. And I hope I'm wrong.
-
You must be reading a different thread than me if you took my postS to come to such a stupid conclusion. I gave you the mechanism to challenge the Insurance companies decisions. I said they deny legitimate claims... I'm well aware of how they work. For a sleezy year out of College or two I worked in Insurance. Please read the rest of my posts before "informing" me of what world I live in or how it actually works.

Dude... C'mon... I don't care what they're "legally" separated from, they CAN legally communicate with each other Which ...AGAIN is why Matt Rhule, the Nebraska HC and former coach of the Panthers came and said, "you want a good QB, it's going to cost US 2M in the portal, that's just the reality." These coaches are talking to the heads of the NIL collectives, they're coordinating. The school can't push you to pay one player, the Collectives can... and MANY of those Collectives...such as the one at Miami that is giving Carson Beck a massive amount of money. Right...so now we're back to the positions and frankly, what year you want to look at. Look at least year, it was Sanders, Hunter...a CBB player I hadn't heard of who were at the top...ALONG with Arch Manning who comes from maybe the most famous Football family(or possibly sports family) in the league's history. Are you off the opinion that the large revenue sports have NIL collectives that make money? LOL...no, they DEFINITELY do not. They basically work as Charities but for...the least charitable reasons. They may end a year with more money than they had going into the year... that money doesn't get spread back over the collective. You just end up rolling it over. I'm dying to know where my money went! I put 10K in just at the start of the year the last several years(not...exactly a high roller). I got back...0 dollars. Any money they make, that just goes into their war chest. You're not making money from it. Non-Revenue... I don't think it changes. Non-revenue is more often just a couple larger donors who are more invested in the programs. I don't think we are on most issues, but on this, I think it's almost 100% race neutral. There may be some nepotism that goes into it...you have teammates who are often given money to entire other teammates. This could in theory happen with the Bassett Family(though they're Brothers). With schools like IMG pumping out 30-40 D1 Athletes a year, the only way I see it not being based on merit at this point is... who has the bigger name or connections and I still think that's in service of winning, not race.
-
You go on and on about anecdotal evidence and then "studies" and you are using a 2015 study(from 2017...strange they'd not use the 2017 starters) but half the starting QBs are black going into this year(actually...more than half, but it's less than white). The first two picks of the 2022 and 2023 draft...black. The first pick of this years draft class...black. So if you want to argue there's a "racial element to which positions are most valued," then...please account for that?" I mean... it's also Football. They didn't just devalue RB because due to race, they did it because it's an EASIER position to replace. QB is the most important position in Football. Who was the ROY last year? The MVP the last several years? Are you a Football fan? Because...if not, I get it, but if you are, I have to question how honest some of these questions are... this is SUCH basic stuff. The top young QBs, Jayden Daniels, Caleb Wiliams The top QBs in the NFL overall, Mahomes, Lamar, Allen, Burrows. Who's the top paid QB in the NFL? Mahomes. Top paid in GTD money? Dak. You're really muddying this conversation by oscillating back and forth between NFL QB play(which is 10-years old and even a casual NFL fan would know is antiquated)...why QB is valued more than RB and asking if there's a racial component to it(that doesn't even seem serious frankly). Lets go to the 2nd most valuable position. WR. Just like NIL and CFB, the highest paid non-QBs are ALMOST all WRs. Tyreke Hill, Davante Adams, Justin Jefferson, Jamar Chase, Ceedee Lamb, DK Metcalf... Terry McClaurin... The correlation is NOT with QBs becoming more highly valued as RBs became LESS valued, the correlation is WRs becoming more highly valued as RBs became devalued. All really moving off the College NFL deals where... you're using a year that fits your narrative but then ignoring the one that doesn't.

Best and worst case scenarios

"Beau and Mark, a former teammate who requested anonymity due to fear of retaliation, alleged Starocci took nonconsensual explicit photos of them in the Nittany Lions’ locker room. Beau said the photos were reported to Sanderson along with the theft, but nothing came of it from the coach. “I walked out of the shower to a snapshot from (Starocci) of me, naked,” Beau said. “The team had a snapchat group chat that he filled with those kinds of pictures of teammates.”" -
Sure but what about Paterno and the Baylor football coach?

I bet you nothing happens at all, little tough guy. -
Doesn't say what the photo shows. Doesn't say it was added to chat. Doesn't say anyone on the chat was visibly exposed. Doesn't say the chat was reported to anyone. Could be true, but article doesn't say and we don't know. I'd say "reread the article" but you already know this, and are gleefully spewing as fact things that exist only in your head. We all know you've been jerking off in a bowl all day, hoping Beau will do what Iowa couldn't, unleashing a decade's worth of frustration. Easy there fella. The allegations here are serious, and the facts matter. No decent person wants PSU coaches to escape responsibility if they're culpable, but no decent person wants their career ruined if they acted properly. But then again, not everyone's a decent person, are they?

Anyone else surprised given the history that Penn St doesn't run every new head coach thru the 3 day Paterno-Sandusky seminar series?
