Is this the Hunter Biden’s coke in the White House thread? I lost track.

Is it possible these firms are writing down the value of their Twitter investments to offset other actualized gains (i.e. tax purposes)? Also, do you think these firms would actually be willing to sell their stakes at the price at which they are valuing them?

Some current happenings to unpack when discussing our country’s need to be energy independent: Saudi Arabia negotiated a peace deal/ normalized relations with Iran with the help of China, completely cutting the US out of the talks. Saudi Arabia is looking to join BRICS. BRICS is looking to replace the USD as the world’s currency. Saudi Arabia just cut oil production another million barrels/day, while we are just beginning to come out of an inflation crisis. This decreased supply of oil will likely cause inflation to creep up, thus prompting more interest rate hikes. The increasingly high cost of borrowing will continue to cool our economy until it tips into recession. A recession will destabilize the USD, thus giving incentive (an excuse) for BRICS to ditch it. A weakened USD not only means its value will decrease, but our ability to impose sanctions will decrease. If we cannot effectively sanction “bad actors”, we lose our status as sole superpower.

To be fair, every city has great areas to live, no matter how bad a rap the city as a whole has. The problem is when the “bad” areas begin encroaching on the “good” areas, whether through mandatory affordable housing units or the bad actors from bad areas using the good areas to hunt for victims… seeing a lot of that in Chicago right now with spree armed robberies and car jackings.

Well, when you basically legalize various forms of crime, crime stats no longer hold much weight. If you know nothing will happen to the offender, why would you even bother reporting it? Just to piss them off?

That criteria is laughable at best. How about when you factor in housing affordability, cost of living, homelessness, community involvement, job availability/ unemployment, tax rates, etc. Texas and Florida are on the top of the list for net positive domestic migration (The only state on your list with a net negative domestic migration in 2022 is Louisiana), so it’s strikes me odd that so many people are moving to these terrible places in droves. I’ll let you guess which states were on the bottom of the migration list. It’s a safe bet they scored pretty well on your “best places to live” list. https://www.nar.realtor/blogs/economists-outlook/where-people-moved-in-2022#

I still wonder how much the DNC paid (or what dirt they had on) John McCain to choose Sarah Palin as his running mate. There was zero logic to that pick, and, had he picked anyone else, Obama would still be a Senator from IL (or in prison like most politicians from IL).

You’re right… He’s more of a New York Post guy. -
Amazing how these maps overlay so perfectly. Pro-Law Enforcement Vallas vs. Criminal-Apologist Johnson.

C’mon… he had “spoilers” written in the title… it’s not like when ESPN accidentally leaked the final score of the Super Bowl before it was played. -
For the last time, you cannot rely on the CA voter rolls to establish whether or not one is alive.

No talk of Earth's recent broken Heat Wave?

No, I meant their form of government is the leftists’ wet dream: Unitary Marxist-Leninist one-party socialist republic… citizens being dirt poor is just the inevitable product of such forms of government. … certainly isn’t something the right is clamoring for. -

Meh, I answered it right… this is like voting for the President where you’re supposed to vote for who you think is going to win, right? -
I honestly wouldn’t trust any intelligence we have on China’s military capabilities. Hell, our intelligence didn’t even know an army of shamans and GI Joe cosplayers were going to seize the Capitol on January 6… I mean, in the movie White House Down, the only reason the White House was taken was because the Speaker of the House was in on it… wait a minute. Here nor there, it is not China’s military capabilities we need to worry about, it is their ability to wage cyber and economic war on us to a much more deleterious effect. The build up of their navy is to protect their economic interests (which will include Taiwan in the relatively near future), not wage war against us. If China wants to take Taiwan, China Joe will evoke the “One China” policy and let them have it.

Maybe the housing prices will drop enough for all the homeless… er unhoused neighbors to afford homes, because we all know the main reason people are homeless is because the lack of affordable housing, not addiction, mental illness and/or the desire to live such a “lifestyle”.

Burroughs did say before the B1G transition was a thing, he’d want to be the head coach at USC (or was it UCLA… either way). That would be huge if it were to happen, and it seems like it’s the right time for him to make that leap. As far as NCAAs in LA…. Meh… but I might change my tune if UCLA and/or USC started a program. -

The green push, generally speaking, says the “rich” need to have less (unless you’re a Bolshevik, like John Kerry), when, in actuality, the “poor” need to have more, in terms of what is most beneficial for the environment. People who are worried about where their next meal is going to come from really don’t give two shits how much their 2-stroke moped pollutes or if it is “bad” to dump their laundry water into the river. The $2 billion we just borrowed to give to Angola to build a solar farm could’ve been spent in a hundred different ways that’d be better and have a greater “green” impact. Angola is one of the “richest” African countries in oil, diamonds and agriculture land (soon to be covered by solar panels), yet their people are dirt poor… if you wonder why, their government is a Unitary Marxist-Leninist one-party socialist republic, which sounds made up (it isn’t) or the leftists’ wet dream. -

Well, at least you pretended to try, but if you think they were going to defend coal and oil, you’re mistaken… but you’d, in the vein of Bob Dole’s thought process, not have to be afraid of scary words like conservatives apparently are. The guest on the podcast is big on natural gas to nuclear transition. Trying to get third world to jump to renewables only results in backsliding to much dirtier sources of fuel (ie coal… look at China… even Germany after shutting down their nuclear plants). At the end of the day, dependable energy is what brings up the impoverished, and bringing people out of poverty does far more for the environment than anything. Africa and India are rapidly urbanizing, so thinking solar and wind will keep up with their energy demands is a pipe dream and will lead to the proliferation of cheap and quickly built coal plants. Another concern brought up is with the West staking its energy future on China’s monopoly on the rare earth elements necessary for many “green” initiatives. -
You all need to show a little more empathy for our unhoused neighbors, controlled substance aficionados and urban social club members.

Yeah, that’s a Twitter post. Where’s the peer-reviewed paper published in a scientific journal by UC-Berkeley professors, though? Anything less, than it’s just another conspiracy theory.
-
Nah… it’s still considered conspiracy theory by a sizable percentage of the population… they’re also the same people who are still wearing masks while driving alone in their cars.

Depends on your definition of good is… and if everyone would agree to honor the “whatever happens in Vegas” clause. -
Becoming a Medieval Times knight would be a good career move for Gable, in my opinion. Hopefully at the Schaumburg castle.
