  1. Good point on the bonus percentage coming down as they face better competition. Untimely, we will find out in March if either guy can improve on their Rd 12 finishes. Whether you think it was a good decision or bad for Pinto and Allred to cut down, I like that they made the decision in the off season and allowed their body a full season to acclimate. I personally hate when guys go up or down midseason.
  2. Agree 100% that the B1G seeding will play a big part in the NCAA seeding. All 3 could be #1 or #3 at B1G but whoever gets the #1 seed, probably makes the finals and then, even if he losses in the B1G finals, probably gets no worse than the #3 seed at NCAAs (with the 3rd place at B1Gs getting the 4 seed). If you do bring in non-B1G matches, then I think you have to look at total body of work. So if you are going to penalize Ridge for the Henson loss, I think you have to credit Parco's body of work over SVN body of work and give Parco the #1. If you only look at only wins then if probably comes down to Parco or Ridge for the #1 seed.
  3. Maybe I am in the minority but I was not shocked at all that the guys going down in weight wouldn't look as good in early December in their first few competitions at a new weight class. Both Pinto and Allred have a higher bonus percentage this year compared to last year so they have been more dominate. Having said that, Allred/Pinto may have been properly rated but Arnold and Kennedy were probably over rated. Kennedy's best win of the year is #13 Danny Wask and #30 Braunagel according to wrestletat. Arnold has now wrestled 4 guys in the top 20 on wrestlestat and has 1 takedown in regulation.
  4. I don't think I follow the logic in penalizing the guy who has wrestled a tougher schedule and was the only one to wrestle Henson, but it really only matters how they seed it at B1Gs and I don't have a clue how that will go.
  5. That is interesting. In the OSU/Minnn thread there seems to be talk that Davino is going at 133 for OSU. If I had access to Circa in my state I would be tempted to try and middle it.
  6. Late adds: Minnesota -3.5 v. Ohio State Rutgers-14.5 v. Maryland Michigan St +12.5 v. NW UNCO +7.5 v. SDSU Air Force +9.5 v Utah Valley Purdue -19.5 v. Wisc Ore St +3.5 v. Cal Poly Princeton +10.5 v. Cornell UNI -30.5 v. NDSU WV -6.5 v. Wyoming
  7. Smith dec. Cruz 3-0 Ayalya dec. Van Dee 3-3 Hardy MD Either guy 7-3 Ridge dec. Parco 10-3 Taylor dec. Estrada 13-3 Calendo dec. Minto 13-6 Kennedy dec. Pinto 13-9 Arnold dec. Allred 13-12 Buchanan MD McDaniel 13-16 Kueter MD Andrews 13-20 I think Pinto could have a shot to pull the upset, but that wouldn't change the result. As mentioned Parco is 2-0 vs. Ridge but if Ridge wrestles his match, I think he comes out on top. If he wrestles like he did in the dual last year, Parco can steal it.
  8. I am with you, especially when you throw in the cross country travel and late night start time for the east coast team. The 125 forfeit sucks tho.
  9. Biggest threat to Messenbrink is food poising or some flesh eating disease that prevents him from taking the mat.
  10. They have added: NC +1.5 v. Pitt ASU +17.5 v. ISU VT -17.5 v. Standford
  11. FYI, for those who like to participate in gambling legally. DK has NCAA wrestling lines up for the week. Rider +7.5 v. Lock Haven Cleveland State +3.5 v. Edinboro West Virginia -5.5 v. Utah Valley Michigan+38.5 v. PSU Nebraska +6.5 v. Iowa Disappointing they don't have a line on the OSU/Minn dual. Is everyone for PSU going? If they drop 1 match it will be tough to cover that many points, Cardenas could beat Barr as well. It's tough to bet against PSU, but 38 seems like it may be too many.
  12. It's okay if not every single top kid decides to go somewhere other than PSU.
  13. It crazy how much attention Bo's decision is getting while OKSt could bookend it with Ross and Jax to about a fifth of the fanfare
  14. In the last :30 seconds, sometimes I think refs feel obligated to hit the guy with the lead with a meaningless stalling call. It wouldn't surprise me if stalling is called 5x more in the last :30 of a match than in the previous 6:30.
  15. I have no idea if this is true either, but it would also track with the accelerated timeline. Instead of just cutting the list this week, he went down to 4 teams today and will announce tomorrow. If he wanted to drag it out longer, he certainly could.
  16. Na, I just don't care about spell checking message boards post. It allows the grammar police to feel useful and then I know who to avoid at parties.
  17. Didn't Okie State already start a new era when they hired DT? Is this another new era about to be started? Honestly, I had no idea Okie State was offensive. I assumed they didn't like Okie Lite but figured Okie State was fine.
  18. Maybe they have Bassett penciled in at 157 in 5 years so they they don't need Estrada to have 4 more years of eligibility
  19. Not to pick on Rutgers, but couldn't the same critique be made about every sport Rutgers competes in?? For whatever reason, they aren't a power player in anything. Goodale might run the most successful program in the entire athletic department? Football, Basketball, Baseball all would love to have a top ten finish in the NCAAs, be middle of the pack of the most dominate conference and be known as one of the better home environments in the nation.
  20. I actually did notice that, but I couldn't bring myself to typing a wrestling dual with the "e"
  21. It was still 20.5 this morning. Which way do you see it moving? If you assume PSU can get 3 bonus points (141, 165, 174, 184, 285 all seem possible), Iowa needs 3 wins to cover. That seems right to me. I predicted 3 Iowa wins but don't feel confident in Rec Hall.
  22. For those in states with Draftkings, they have lines on a bunch of duals this weekend. Iowa/PSU -20.5 NCST/UNC +15.5 Virginia/VT -28.5 Utah Valley/SDSU -22.5 WY/NDSU +7.5 Wisc/Neb -36.5 SIUE/Cal Bapt -4.5 Stan/OrSt +18.5 Duke/Pitt -31.5 OSU/Mich +21.5 Pur/Minn -14.5 UNC/ASU +4.5 Thoughts on anyone's favorite. I think I like NC +15.5, Vir +28.5, SDSU -22.5 and OhSt -21.5 the most.
  23. I agree the ranking is odd but to me the bigger question is should we be ranking this many guys? I get that 33 guys make NCAAs (so we rank 32) but with only 77(6)? teams, that is ranking ~42% of the field. And like most bell curves there isn't a lot of separation between the middle guys. The difference is probably just as much schedule related (who has loses to whom). If Block and Singleton had swapped scheduled, they might have similar results and Block would be unranked. Of course the obvious reason is Flo is a business that relies on page views and subscriptions so putting a guy with Iowa singlet higher is probably better for business.
  24. 125 - PSU dec. Iowa 3-0 133 - Iowa dec. PSU 3-3 141 - PSU md Iowa 7-3 149 - Iowa dec. PSU 7-6 157 - PSU dec.Iowa 10-6 165 - PSU md Iowa 14-6 174 PSU md Iowa 18-6 184 PSU md Iowa 22-6 197 Iowa dec. PSU 22-9 285 PSU dec. Iowa 25-9 PSU wins dual
  25. Face value for 1 session is not $190/ticket.
