You are really reading a ton into the "we build, we don't buy" quote. Getting 1 or 2 guys to supplement holes doesn't mean you "bought" a trophy, especially when the other trophy teams have more transfers and are spending more on NIL. He never said they wouldn't go after a top transfer either. Manning acknowledged they use NIL, but they don't have the NIL money to spend as much as other programs so they have to build guys.

Carter is the reason Carter didn't win the Hodge. He wanted to control matches and not take much risk so he could win matches. Thanks to the 3 point TD, he was able to increase his bonus rate but he wasn't out trying to dominate or tech his opponents. If Carter went for techs and domination, he would of won the Hodge.

Welsh said he wants to go 184. I don't know why Barr would go down, he is the returning finalist If PSU buys AJ and bumps him to HWT, then it eliminates his biggest threat and Barr will enter next year as a strong favorite. Marasolas might need to get "hurt" playing dodgeball and get a medical to avoid losing a year of eligibility.

I was told that these kids don't actually care about starting, the PSU guys just want to be the best wrestlers they can be so I doubt they all transfer . Surely some will stay just to get better and be room guys on a winning team.

I doubt Carter tweets out that he is taking Ryder (after the Rocco news) if Ryder was on the way out and this was expected.

RW got a good draw and still needed three SV 4-1 victories to make the finals so I get your point. Regardless of their credentials, you have to let the best guy go if they want, imo. Look at PSU, they are actively recruiting and paying NIL over guys that have been on campus with 4 years of eligibility left.

No one was even thinking CK would go 0-2 after watching CK in the PSU dual against Haines. My question is, if Rocco wanted to go why wasn't he give the chance to wrestle off? Ryan didn't have an issue making Cannon earn his spot over Sasso. If Rocco is beating the guys in the room and wants to go, why try and RS him?

It isn't the first or last thing that either of these guys have said online that they won't back it up. They are mastering the art of MMA style hype to create an audience. It works in short form when you are trying to sell fights, will see if it works in long form podcast where it could hurt your credibility.

Great Info as always. Couldn't the reason the MD did not decline was the 5-7 point wins are now MDs? So the 11-14 MD became TF but also the 5-7 pt Dec became MD? I am not the number guru you are but I would also think there was a higher number of 5-7 pt matches than 11-14 pt matches (with 2 pt TD) creating more opportunities to increase the MD that you are seeing the data.

Agree it would be a curveball, but that doesn't mean this is correct. AJ probably has the most bad blood with the PSU wrestlers and the OSU administration. Seems like the Iowa AD changing her tune would be more likely.

Fair. Between the two I would still give the edge to MM. I think its undeniable that TF are harder than MD and MM blew Carter out in that category. 1) record = Tie 2) Dominance - MM 3) Competition = Carter 4) Sportmanship = MM

For all the Carter was robbed people, I have an honest question. Wasn't MM the more deserving Hodge winner than Carter? Same record, higher bonus rate. Is the only reason people are pushing for Carter because he got 5 titles or he is older? Wasn't Michell more dominate than Carter this year?

Carter needed a 5th year and the TD to increase to 3 points just to bonus rate above 66%. If he wanted the Hodge he could of scored more points, but he was content to control the match, sit on ankles, and win comfortably.

I think its a guess based on his relationship to Chris Perry. It's not clear how hard ISU is going after him. While he had a good season, I don't know that any big school is going to offer him a big "bag" like he probably thinks. I imagine there is still a risk for the school and his NIL offer will reflect it.
