Not a lot of discussion about Barr since the Iowa dual. Feels like he's been flying a little bit under the radar in the discussions, although a lot of folks did pick Buchanan. I thought Barr would take this match on "first feels" and outscramble Buchanan, and at least get out from underneath, but he really couldn't get anything started. The match didn't seem as close as the score may suggest, and I'm not sure what adjustments Barr will make between now and Big Tens.

No panic if Iowa whiffs on BB, but you know they are going on a spending spree in the xfr portal with that pool of money.

I thought he was moving on after this season, and would be surprised if he's still managing his weight. Who is saying that Nelson may be back? Please don't say he's waiting out the potential NCAA 5 year rule.

I thought Ferrari's size gave Starocci a little trouble. He looked pretty big, and Starocci was sucking some wind late in the match. Maybe he was doing just enough to win without giving the Mini Focus a real feel. He never seemed to be in any real danger of losing. Dunno what Ferrari's gameplan was, as he didn't really get anything going, but dude needs to learn to keep off the edges and circle back to center. IF they wrestle folkstyle again, Starocci will probably be ready for Ferrari's roll-through single leg defense thing. I don't blame Brands for trotting Ferrari out, because now he knows exactly where he's at. Pretty nice that we will likely get to see both Ferracci and Starnold this season.

I'm still shellshocked by how he completely destroyed Caliendo. Never thought I'd see Cal break like that. Dude gave up the tf on a stalling point, which is the most un-Caliendo thing ever. Mesenbrink is just a ton of fun to watch.

I counted 33. Not counting Ayala, Iowa had just 2 takedowns during the entire dual. Drake had 6. I thought Mesenbrink (6 TDs) had the most for PSU, but Lilledahl had 7. I've got 25 - 8 PSU on takedowns.

Wanna take a crack at an all-POTUS team with wrestlers from 1990 and earlier? I wonder if it would be tougher since it's before parents started giving their kids last names as first names... Cooper, Tanner, Ryder, Carson, Haden, etc.

Cruz is a tough kid, but Lilledahl is going to throttle him. Luke will be wrestling with a chip on his shoulder after the Rutgers dual, and he'll be at home at his first Nit-Hawk (uh). And Cruz is more likely to push the action rather than wrestle a chess match, which will translate into a bunch of points of Lilledahl. I can't really see Terry coaching Cruz into suddenly being more selective with his attacks.

Feels like a majority of folks here expect MM to at least major Caliendo. What do y'all think about Cal's chances if he bumped up and wrestled Haines? Leave Teemer at 157 and slot in Estrada at 165 (does he still have a match to burn?). I mean, it likely won't put a dent in the dual score but I think Caliendo's odds are a little better against Haines. Much better than Kennedy's, anyway. Would be a fun match either way.

Doesn't NWCA have a 235lb weight class outside of NCAA & NAIA wrestling? I have a hard time imagining a new weight being added but it wouldn't be a such a bad idea to bring college weights closer in-line with UWW Senior FS weight classes to mitigate some tweener situations between college and freestyle (e.g., Vito). Dunno how to adjust the existing weights equitably so that there's a good fit with FS and accommodate 18 year olds entering college. Either way, the current NCAA weights seem more or less due for a review, if not a tweaking, if that hasn't already happened.
