  1. It'll be interesting to see what happens with Oklahoma in the years to come. Their athletics department has tons of SEC media money pouring in, much much more than what the non-SEC & B1G programs make, so I'm curious to see how much of it trickles down to wrestling once the pay-for-play dust settles.
  2. For both guys, much of the variability lies in their draw. But all things being equal, do you slot in a 70% healthy Nelson or a 90% healthy Kennedy? I'm making up the numbers but imagine they're somewhere in that ballpark.
  3. I really enjoyed the "kid is going to be a four-timer" era.
  4. B-b-b-but AJ
  5. Nolf and Kasak have taught strategies in their camps/clinics for taking down opponents who wrestle from a knee (but I guess they didn't teach it to Starocci). Circling, drag variations, downblock & blast counterattacks, etc. I say work the optics and get the ref on your side with a simple gesture:
  6. Keuter will also be around for the 2026 football season when the B1G and SEC changes the CFP format and get 4 AQs each. $$$$$(fart noise)$$$$$
  7. Wow, the Buckeyes and Huskers really got in some reps this season. Is there a way to constrain the dataset to duals only? I'm wondering if that gives a better sense of team performance. Speaking of, hell of a great dual last night in IC. Bonus points were flying. Parco and Hamiti came very close to majoring their opponents - that would've been 9 matches with bonus. We need a dual excitement index, which is the % of matches in a dual with bonus OR the most bonus points in a dual, AND the winning team not having more than 50% of the bonus matches or points
  8. Some pretty good kids possibly entering the picture, too who may be ready to go as TF. Yianni's brother, Casey's kid, Lockett. I'm not sure what their projected weight is. Like Asher Cunningham, what does he walk around at? I can't tell if he's a future 165 or a 197.
  9. Makes sense. The situation could very well clear itself up if Keuter doesn't make the football roster cap next year.
  10. I think it's new. Amine has been pretty banged up for a while though, which might explain his performance. Malik has said that he's been trying to get healthy.
  11. Any significance to Ferentz attending the dual? I figured it's nothing, but some folks were talking.
  12. Tbf, I'm not sure Cal would've bonused Amine last night if it wasn't for the injury time. That extra escape was huge. But I also wasn't surprised by the result. He sure looked great.
  13. Life during college, too. Next season's (supposed) House settlement $ + a piece of football NIL $ could sway his decision. I wonder how it would compare to what he gets wrestling at Iowa, where he's a bigger fish in a smaller pond.
  14. Interesting example you chose to cherry pick from. Sakamoto did absolutely nothing from bottom, just lying there motionless on his belly and looking lost. I get that he's still adjusting to the style, but it's crazy that Taylor threw a kid with no mat skills out there against Ayala.
  15. I don't have any sense for where Keuter is between wrestling and football, but he'll probably be in the mix if he sticks with wrestling. The weight will clear out quite a bit next season.
  16. Jordan Oliver? Kyle Dake? John Smith?
  17. This was my first thought right after the match. While it was the ideal result for Brands (won the match, but not convincingly; won the dual; rested Gabe) it also raises Angelo's NIL stock and deleverages Iowa a little bit. I was fully expecting AJ and the rest of the fam to be tweeting about getting bigger bags next season. Fortunately, Angelo seems to love the environment at Iowa and thinks he's gaining a lot by being in the room. So who knows
  18. Ah yes, who wouldn't travel halfway around the world to train with Josh?
  19. Pretty wild that he's good to go already. Didn't be bust his elbow? That's not typically a quick heal.
  20. Who is Ono rolling with in the PSU room? I assume Ono made plans to train at PSU to be near Cael & Casey, and maybe practice with Gilman. But Gilman's gone and Cael, Casey, and Nick are busy with the college season. I'm not sure what he's getting out of training at Penn State that he doesn't get in Japan, aside from maybe getting some folkstyley feels and dodging projectiles coming his way. I think Fix and Ono would be a pretty good match too, mostly because RBY's style is closer to Ono's and it would be interesting to see if it helps him to gameplan against zippy guys who work from space. As for the match, Ono is a boss, but Spencer can win by owning the center of the mat, getting Ono called for passivity, and forcing him to engage. The counterattacks and scrambles will be fireworks both ways.
  21. It's not like football. But tbf it probably fills seats when PSU comes to town no matter how cupcakey the home team is.
  22. Follow-up poll: Will the most deserving wrestler win it? Should the criteria be suggested guidelines?
  23. Imma pull for Keuter because something something irony something something Gable beaten by football again
  24. I assume the OP was asking if Starocci could take Keck... out to lunch, and the answer is clearly NO. I don't know what kind of NIL money Starocci's making, but Keck looks like he can EAT. No one's gonna want to get stuck with that bill!
