Koy Hopke had a nice 6-1 over Christian Carroll. This was especially impressive after Carroll beat Coby Merrill yesterday, who beat Hopke very badly in freestyle last spring. Hopke vs. Ziola in the finals is a rematch from the Bison Open this year which Ziola won. Zoila then lost to Hopke's teammate Bennett Tabor in the Bison finals.

Gophers are reportedly sending 11 wrestlers. Hopke and Tabor at Hwt. Eisch, Koenig, and Duchateau at 149. Whiting and Wester at 174, and Dailey at 197. Competing unattached are Beisel at 125, Johnson at 141, and Vanier at 149.

He has incredible hand strength, combined with great technique. Those of us who watched him in high school are not surprised by his season so far.

I'm definitely not an Ohio State fan, but Tom Ryan would be the choice right now. That's the team that has exceeded expectations the most. Of course, that all could change in the second half of the season.
