  1. Maybe Vinesh just phogat to check her weight.
  2. What could possibly go wrong?
  3. Give 'em the double birds.
  4. Most schools shouldn't have to cut current team members because some will graduate and/or quit or transfer in 24-25, before this goes into effect in 25-26. They will just have to more closely watch how many they bring in next recruiting class.
  5. I wonder if college teams will use their RTCs as sort of a practice squad, where high level walk-ons can work out and potentially join the 30-man roster in the future.
  6. The Gophers have had at least 3 Olympic medalists that were still in college: Brandon Paulson (Silver), Garrett Lowney (Bronze), Gable Steveson (Gold).
  7. He's pretty college ready now. Great hand fighter and had a pretty big advantage in physicality and technique over other Minnesota high schoolers. I remember only two fairly close matches (Alex Braun, Cooper Rowe) last season. My only concern would be that his "improvement curve" has already peaked more than others in his class. I think he would do better at 149 than 157 based on his style.
  8. The lowest weight class will always have the issue of some being too small and others cutting their arse off, so I don't know that raising it would change anything. It's probably the hardest weight to recruit for this reason, and you just don't know who's going to keep growing.
  9. 40 years later I vividly remember not being able to move off my back after he threw me. I was a freshman and my senior captain came up to me after the match and gave me a titty-twister and said, "what's your excuse, you have two of these". (Lewis was born without one pectoralis muscle).
  10. I wrestled Lewis a couple years before this. It was in a folkstyle collegiate open, he had moved up to 142 and planted me in a similar way. I had never felt more pinned in my life.
  11. Has Cannon to tOSU been announced, or just speculation?
  12. Top 8 teams in the Gold pool: 1. Wisconsin 2. Ohio 3. Pennsylvania 4. Minnesota 5. Illinois 6. Iowa 7. California 8. Oklahoma The final was Wisconsin over Ohio 33-32. Kellen Wolbert (138) scored a pin in the last bout to give Wisconsin the 1 pt win. In the match before that though (132) Lucas Peters had to score a point and/or not get pinned against #1 Marcus Blaze for them to have a chance. 13. They've won like 5 of the last 10 NCAA D2 championships, so are doing very well in their classification.
  14. My muscle and fat are marbled, like a fine steak.
  15. Taking the Matt McDonough route.
  16. I like it. I think just having a criteria that is visible on the scoreboard (ex: 2-2) like they do in international styles would also increase action. I wonder which would be the best criteria in folkstyle, the first takedown or last score?
  17. True, but as the risk/reward of either getting a takedown on your shot or getting countered approaches 50/50 both wrestlers will naturally become more conservative in their shot taking no matter how many points a takedown is worth. I think the key is to somehow reward the wrestler that initiates action.
  18. I wonder what percent of takedowns in NCAA wrestling are scored by the guy initiating the shot vs. the counter/reattack scores? Are we at 70/30, 60/40?
  19. I wasn't strongly opposed to or in favor of the 3 pt change, but the whole thing seemed a lot like the Spinal Tap "this one goes to 11" bit.
  20. ISU already has a pretty good tweener coming in next year in Flo #1 @215, Sawyer Bartelt.
  21. Why you have to interrupt an argument about beaches with transfer news in the transfer portal thread?
  22. What's the deal with Gunderson? He was on the UNI roster as a So in 22-23, but then not on the roster last year, but still wrestled as Panther WC I think. Just a redshirt or did he leave school?
  23. He beat Bennett Tabor 5-3 in the Iowa -Minnesota dual.
  24. I could believe 300 but not 500. He wasn't exactly scrawny compared to other 7'1'' BB guys.
