  1. That's USADA not WADA and from 2014. But it seems to imply that WADA allows it.
  2. What do you mean by qualification process? From USAW or from UWW? I don't believe there's any UWW qualification for Worlds. USAW will have this- https://usawrestlingevents.com/event/2400279802
  3. Study the Europeans in most sports. They don't over-compete. Check what NBA coaches are saying about the European players. They practice and learn fundamentals all the way through- especially early. When Sergei came to Lehigh around 1990 and saw what the local high school teams were doing. He thought it was crazy. We wrestle Tue/Thu/Sat often. So when do you practice to learn? You're either making weight the day before or recovering the day after. I know you didn't say to compete that much but thinking that competing should be high on the list is very American. They go to a few lower level events and then to what they need to qualify for Olympics. They don't usually send all their top guys to the duals trips or World Cup. Remember how bad the seeding was. The top guys (including Americans) didn't go. Seeding isn't for the top guys, it's for the other guys. As an aside- they should have followed the original thoughts of seeding- past World/Olympic placings.

  5. Not sure about locations but they are highly syllabus dependent. In the Soviet days, they might have their best coach early on teaching from that syllabus.

  12. From USAW- Retherford withdraws from Olympic mens freestyle 65 kg repechage as medical precaution PARIS, France – Zain Retherford, the U.S. Olympian at 65 kg in men’s freestyle wrestling, has withdrawn from the competition in Paris as a medical precaution after sustaining a head injury during Saturday’s tournament. Retherford competed in the preliminaries at 65 kg on Saturday, losing to 2022 World champion Rahman Amouzadkhali of Iran, 8-0. When Amouzadkhali won his semifinal match on Saturday evening, Retherford became eligible to compete in repechage on Sunday. He was scheduled to face Islam Dudaev of Albania in the 11 a.m. session on Sunday. Retherford suffered a concussion while training in preparation for the Olympic Games and had recovered prior to the competition. During his bout against Amouzadkhali, his injury symptoms returned. With support of his coaches and in consultation with medical staff, the decision was made for Retherford to withdraw from the tournament. Following the decision, Retherford expressed his gratitude to the Team USA fans, coaches, support staff and his family for the continued support and encouragement during this time. Retherford competed in his first Olympic Games in Paris. He was a 2023 World champion and 2022 World silver medalist. Retherford was a three-time NCAA champion for Penn State, and hails from Benton, Pa.
  13. Which means you can't use current OB rules
  14. A problem with adding step outs to the current folkstyle rules is that currently you aren't OB until both wrestlers are OB. So who's fault would it be? This mostly would affect neutral positions so you could probably adjust neutral OB rules appropriately such that unless there's action towards a score they are OB upon first foot out from neutral standing.
  15. One of the rules that officials must follow is that there must be scoring by the first 0:45-1:00 and then again in the next same time period. So you will generally see a call at 5:15-5:00 (verbal warning in FS). It's not that important to determine who is to blame for the lack of scoring as to try to guess who will react by scoring when warned/put on the clock. If it's clear hit that wrestler otherwise, hit someone. And it's about scoring- not just trying to score. You can be considered passive by constantly trying the same move that doesn't score unless it's clear the other wrestler is using "negative" wrestling to prevent the score. Different philosophy from folkstyle.
  16. Depending how long he waits-
  17. We missed another Russian ex-pat. Tatiana!
  18. I know- had to get out and back in
  19. George Carlin did a skit on contradictions in terms. Military intelligence, business ethics, jumbo shrimp. Usually we could add Heavyweight wrestler!
  20. I could see he didn't really want to be there but he did everything asked and smiled when appropriate. To be fair, both Bronzes seemed aloof too but they all smiled for the Lee taken Selfie.
