  1. I don't believe Pete Welch is related to the other shown Welches. Pete's brother John also wrestled at UNC a couple years earlier. Their father John wrestled at Rutgers in the 60s.
  2. The Roy brothers from NJ Shore area. Nick AA Michigan. Andy from Rutgers. Dan from ESU. Andy and Dan wrestled each other in EIWA 1/4s. Andy and Nick were scheduled to meet at NCAAs in 2nd round but ... And there's another brother that wrestled but can't find anything on him. The Dufresne brothers- Mark AA for Lehigh and brother Ted at Lehigh. Kesner Seton Hall. Not sure where Theo went. Youngest Kevin went to Lock Haven then Centenary. And they pretty much all pronounced their last name differently. Sheesh! Dufresnee, Dufresnay, Dufren, Dufrain.
  3. Generally depends who they hire to run it and their preference. Not many tournament organizers (like myself) flip back and forth between the two. But what do you mean by streaming the dashboard? This is Flo's dashboard but it isn't the video stream.
  4. Does that change anything I said? Hamer won- obviously outplacing the other two.
  5. Ed Hamer Lehigh 1959 167. Beat Duane Murty Ok State champ 1958 in semis. Finals beat Tom Alberts Pitt champ in 1957.
  6. Good point
  7. I was wondering much the same. Since the match didn't go all 6 minutes- couldn't the call be 1 match point and since it's now a 14 pt spread (I think- forget what the actual score was) do you keep going?
  8. I didn't say Barr knew his traits.
  9. Don't forget where Beard wrestled first. They know his traits.
  10. Unless the previous match was a default (by same wrestler)
  11. I'm just saying there are other options.
  12. Not to seem too naive but money always changed hands during protests. I worked in '96 and '03. FILA charged 400 Swiss francs to listen to a protest. We all know there were bribes but I would suggest that if you saw money being put down that what you saw wasn't the bribe. Bribes were likely done out of site and in addition to what you would have seen.
  13. I remember when we first saw Hasimikov walk out to wrestle- ('79 San Diego) - One of us said- How are you supposed to wrestle THAT!?
  14. From this year's OPC- Gable Steveson Minnesota, MN 285 M RS Jr.
  15. And he has another year.
  16. He isn't in the OPC yet but is shown on the Minn website. https://gophersports.com/sports/wrestling/roster/gable-steveson/22871
  17. Close calls either way but keep one thing in mind. When you are counting for a danger takedown, you don't start counting the instant the other guy goes to his back. You give it 2-3 seconds to be sure he's being held there.
  18. Slightly different side of this. How many beat more than 1 previous champ on the way to winning one himself? Ed Hamer (Lehigh- '59) beat Alberts of Pitt and Murty Ok State in winning.
  19. If we're talking people who became champs or were at the time Frick- Dan Sherman (IA), Milkovich, Breece (OK), Bennett, Churella, Yagla Close behind Mike Brown- Bohna UCLA, Mann Ia St, Loban Clemson, Harris Ore St, L Banach Ia,
  20. Not sure that this is an exact precedent but ... https://www.espn.com/college-sports/story/_/id/42254200/ncaa-makes-canadian-hockey-league-players-eligible-div-i
  21. Hammers only come from the A pools.
  22. That was mainly a number of mid-west schools in the mid 60s as I recall.
  23. The statement was actually correct (notwithstanding the more literal picture above) which was unusual for Yogi. He lived in Montclair and when the road split- you could get to his house either way- https://www.facebook.com/share/v/ok3TiQTjvTmk2m33/
