  1. I would love this very much for both him and the team. It’s entirely possible I’m being too pessimistic which has happened before. The way his year went last year was not encouraging though. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. He did avenge his loss to wells, but a win like the one he had is what you should expect against a true freshman. Just because he avenged it doesn’t mean it didn’t happen. I’m talking about impact come tournament time. I don’t think Cardinal is AA level at this time, and I’ve watched a looot of Derrick Cardinal since his Forest lake days. Really good wrestler, but I don’t see that level. Regardless though, my point of my original question was beyond Cardinal and more the team as a whole. How will they replace all those departures? 3. He’s having a decent start to his season, but he only has two top 20ish wins again Farber and Zaccone, and has been tech’d/pinned by two true freshmen in Wells and Bouzakis. I think he’s still a long ways away from being the level of contributor that Carlson, Devos and Sloan are. And that’s the kind of contributor SDSU needs to keep finding. 4. Gus - at the risk of totally derailing this thread what are your thoughts on SDSU beyond this year? Carlson, Cook and Sloan are all in their last season. Devos and Jordan only one more year than that. The recruiting trail seems to have run relatively cold for a squad that looked like they’d be top-15 or so for quite a while? Berge and the Swensons will be pretty good, but I’m not sure they’ll ever be Sloan level. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. Above post was meant to quote this. Clearly I cannot do technology today. Someone revoke my board card. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. In all seriousness I had been very hopeful for McKee leading up to this year. Finally got the knee surgery he needed, rules on weigh ins changed to allow more time before competition, etc. Then he wrestled the worst match I’ve ever seen out of him and got his ass whooped by Tanner Jordan, who he’d beaten almost double digit times before. McKee is the definition of Had Enough Wrestling. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. Saw that. I agree with that decision but would have understood if not. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. I encourage you to watch the match on Flo. Hopke was in on legs probably 6 times and couldn’t finish. Lost on a questionable but understandable stall call. Pretty clear what his problem is, he’s too small. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. You’re right. Brain fart. I don’t necessarily think Hopke should fall far for this loss to Schunke, who is a very good wrestler ranked top 5 in the weight in his own right and Hopke still has a winning record against him. Given recent results for both though, certainly a case to bump Mirasola over. I do often get Cole and Connor mixed up. Hard to separate which one is which lol. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. I think it does. It’s crazy how they’re in the same state but never seem to find each other. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. I feel like the only hope we have for a real “team race” in the next several years is Cornell adding Bassett and Jax Forrest to their core with Shapiro, Anthony Knox, Sergio Vega, etc. And for that reason, I hope he goes to Cornell. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. I’m sure a kid with his talent and dedication already has a known trajectory as to which weight they want to wrestle in college, but me and my dumb eye test I could actually see him getting bigger like 149/157. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. Would be kinda surprised if Carlson came back for a 7th year. According to wrestlestat he wrestled 176 matches through his first five. That’s gotta take a toll. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  14. Michael Kemerer. Few hawks that I’ve ever actually found it in me to root for and he was one. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  15. Columbia has now dualed Ohio State, Michigan, and Iowa as well as going to the CKLV. That’s insane for a team like that at this time of year. Props to them. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  16. Yes, keep him out of the big ten thank you very much. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  17. No worries!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  18. I was saying my point about Stephen Little wasn’t the point of the thread, not your rankings aggregation. I think your post added significant value to the Rocky Elam conversation lol Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  19. This isn’t the point of the thread, but I’m impressed by Little Rock’s Stephen Little. That kid is going to be real good over the next four years. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  20. Had SVN wrestled enough this year to disqualify from a future medical shirt? I’m not up to speed on how those work. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  21. https://sports.yahoo.com/ncaa-proposing-new-college-athletics-subdivision-rooted-in-direct-athlete-compensation-145051537.html Wonder what impact this would have on college wrestling? Can’t imagine it would be good, if any. Curious to hear thoughts on this concept. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  22. Also, like Steveson continuously being called Stevenson, I hope Crooham sticks. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  23. He was able to finish takedowns on Nagao unlike anyone other than RBY to this point. I was super impressed by his gameplan in that match. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  24. At the risk of taking this thread too seriously, I’d have loved to wrestle for Ed Ruth and I bet a lot of current recruits would as well. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  25. That is something I will agree with you on. IF he actually does come back, then all bets are off. Throw out your best regardless of seniority or redshirt status. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
