  1. He really isn’t though. He was dwarfed by Plott and smaller than Rogotzke and Berge. From what I’ve heard, his cut to 184 isn’t that difficult and if he does return, they plan on approaching him about 174. He’s about the same size Devin Skatzka was his last year. 2. I’d bet on Josh Barr and Lucas Cochran at 184 and 197. Starocci will be back. Barr is too good to sit another year. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. Part of me wonders if Caliendo doesn’t go 157 next year with Franek gone. If he’s able, which wouldn’t shock me, that would be best case scenario for them. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. Here’s my take on Minnesotas lineup next year. This is without any portal additions or subtractions, but I have hope this will finally be the offseason that the portal works in our favor, for the first time since Michael Blockhus. 125 Brandon Morvari rFr 133 Tyler Wells So 141 Vance Vombaur rJr 149 Drew Roberts rJr 157 Blaine Brenner rJr down from 165 165 Andrew Sparks rSr or Hunter Lyden rSo 174 Max McEnelly rFr or Isaiah Salazar rSr 184 Max McEnelly rFr or Isaiah Salazar rSr 197 Gavin Nelson rFr 285 Bennet Tabor rSo or Koy Hopke Fr I think they will look to the portal for any weights 149-165. I could see Salazar being done with college wrestling after this year, but I think he sticks around and either he or McEnelly goes 174. They could also get a transfer 125, but I’d bet only short term as they love Morvari. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. From what I know of Pat Kennedy, he would rather lose his left arm than wrestle for anyone other than Iowa. Even if he’s not starting. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. Yeah that’s fair. I wasn’t trying to clap back at you, just expressing my anger about the process outwards to the masses haha. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. Hamiti lost to Carr and Olejnik to not place. It’s shocking on the surface, but in reality 165 had about 12 guys that seemed like sure-fire AA’s. No shame in losing to Carr or Olejnik at all. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. It’s way different than NFL free agency. In the NFL they sign contracts with terms that both player and team negotiate and have to honor, with certain guarantees. This is quite literally not regulated in any way and boosters, fans or companies can pay whoever they want, whatever they want. No ones supposed to be talking to anyone until they actually enter the portal, but if someone from Iowa (just using them as an example, don’t kill me) wants to get someone from let’s say Virginia. Some rich Iowa fan in the hallway outside NCAA’s can run in to that kids old high school coach or their parent or uncle and say “I have on pretty good authority if your kid enters the portal, we can find a way to get him $50k a year. And if we can’t, he can just pull his name out of the portal no harm done” and it works. Sometimes. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. Yeah, LaMont and Hillger signed with the gopher wrestling club. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. Yeah, maybe I had blocked those from memory lol Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. I have no idea how they’re going to get full four years out of Haines, Mesenbrink, Sealey, PJ Duke, Facundo, and Zack Ryder. It’s going to be quite the log jam. But, Cael always gets it to work out. Asher Cunningham and the older Gibson are good wrestlers that may never start. Edit- somehow forgot Will Henkel, who is damn good as well. 12. I’ve watched Pat McKee wrestle well over 100 matches, probably closer to 200 matches counting high school, and I can’t remember anyone dominating him as bad as Figs did in that round of 16 match. I wasn’t really considering him a title threat before that, but afterwards I felt much more confident in it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. I think he could certainly win 9 straight NCAA titles. 21 straight conference championships no though. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  14. I think some realignment between the pac 12 and big 12 for wrestling is long overdue Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  15. Next year 125 Davis, Lilledahl RS 133 Nagao Year after 125 Lilledahl, Davis RS 133 Nagao Year after 125 Davis 133 Lilledahl Nagao graduates. Seems pretty seamless to me. Could flip around Davis/Lilledahl redshirt years if they want too. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  16. I was pretty adamant on a couple of posts that I thought Nick Feldman would come in and win a title on day 1. I will eat crow on that. Hindsight 20/20 kind of a silly prediction haha. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  17. Oh dammit I hate when I do that lol Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  18. I heard Smith is stepping down and Maple is getting the job. The reason he didn’t take the OU job was because of this. Just what I heard. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  19. Are you hearing that anywhere beyond a few guys on the Hawkeye report saying they’d be good fits Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  20. I think the US Open is in April that’s usually pretty fun Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  21. It’s going to continue to get worse wayyy before it gets better. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  22. Millard is a 157 would struggle to win a match as a starting big ten 165 and Wester is worse than Millard. They’ll both redshirt. Need a transfer at both spots. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  23. If he hits the portal, I hope he was good buddies with Trent Hillger and Taylor LaMont and follows them over the border west. Gophs need a 165 bad. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  24. Different circumstances for each. The only two that had the same reason were Spratley and Jamison. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  25. This is a neat statistic, but I would’ve traded this for just five qualifiers if all five actually did anything. Disappointing season for the gophers for sure. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
