I tried to figure out how Shapiro can be seeded #1 at NCAAs, and it ain't an easy path to figure out. First, he's gonna need to enter a last chance tourney to get his 15 matches in for an RPI. Given that all four guys *really* ahead of him (Kasak, Taylor, Miller, and Teemer) will be in the B1G tournament, three of them will get losses which will give Shapiro the edge in RPI (10%), win percentage (10%) , and conference performance (15%) over those three. No H2H (25%) with any of them, nor common opponents (except one with Kasak and two with Miller, all wins) (10%) so that's a wash. I don't think he has a lot of quality wins (20%), so he'll likely lose that criterion. And we now see where the coaches think he belongs (10%).
If Miller or Kasak win, they're the #1 seed.
