At 125, the first quarterfinal is match #341; the first consolation match is #381. Today's second round of consolations starts with match #461 (which would be after all the first round today finish). They could run things simultaneously, of course.

Cornella just beat Composto for the fourth time this year. CKLV: 7-2 Dual: 7-4 Ivy tournament: 5-3 NCAA: 12-2 Any other recent examples of this beatdown, or worse? I know Gabe Dean beat Lorenzo Thomas eight times over a number of years, but not four times in one season; he did beat Nathaniel Brown four times in one season. There must be B1G guys who have done it. Gotta have gone to a tournament, a dual, the conference tournament, and NCAAs, I think. (edit: Composto has five losses on the season, and four are to Cornella)

Dear Matfish, This seems like a you problem, and not an NCAA/ESPN problem, as I and so many others have been quite satisfied with the production. ESPN+ streams every mat, so there is no "cut away" at inopportune times. The MATCAST has all mats on screen simultaneously, so, again, no "cut away." Thanks, BigRedFan

Ferrera has the #7 (per wrestlestat) RPI, higher than everyone else in the Ivy League and EIWA. Pretty sure you don't get a high RPI with a "weaker" schedule.

When your lowest seed is #11, it''s not hard to "look strong" in the first session. That said, they have the most team points per wrestler entered...behind PSU, of course.

That's one more TD than Cornell gave up (albeit with only five wrestlers).

If you look at the brackets, each match has a match number. The lowest match number in the 125 consolation bracket is higher than the last match number in the 285 consolation bracket. So, R16 through to completion, then the first round of consolation matches.

ESPN+ on my Roku onto my "big" TV to watch individual mats. ESPN+ Matcast on my iPad to see what's going on and to drive individual mat viewing. Text notifications on my iPhone to warn me which mat to watch. All worked flawlessly. No issue determining individual mat streams.

They have an error at 285. They have Nathan Taylor listed at +50000...wrestling for Penn. The Lehigh Nathan Taylor is seeded #6. Nathan Taylor is also a Penn 141 wrestler. Grab it while it is hot!

On the other hand...

Wrestlestat has Shapiro ranked second at 157 in RPI, behind only Duke. He has 16 matches, compared to Larkin's 12, Zerban's 17, Cannon's 19, etc. Of course, he beat Swisher, Larkin, and Webster this year. Not sure where your lack of a "tough season" comes from.

With Milani and Ferrera coming back, and both Cortez brothers coming in, there isn't a lot of room at the Lightweight Inn next year. Of course, guys like Ungar and Greg D will have graduated (I think) by next year, so Cornell is out in any case.

From a Cornell fan perspective, the ultimate was Ben Darmstadt. He looked like he would be ripped apart by just about anyone on the mat, but his length allowed him to excel. It was funny to see him face Patrick Brucki. Joy and Ruiz are also very thin.

He didn't have enough matches to earn a spot on the list. He's not alone.

Shapiro doesn't have a "durability" issue: his issue was with head impacts. Last year and continuing into this year he has abandoned his moves (and he had any number of them) that put him at risk of a head impact. As a result, he has had no medical issues this year. Unless he gets a concussion, he will have no problem "holding up." I've never seen him with tape on various body parts, although this year he has worn leg sleeves (sometimes of a color that really clashed with their red uniforms). He's had four days in which he had two dual meets: D/TF, TF/M, TF/TF, F/D. Wrestlestat's RPI rankings have this order: Shapiro, Taylor, Cannon, Robideau, Larkin, Duke So they've had similarly difficult schedules, if you believe in RPI.
