  1. Sorry to hurt your ego, but it's not about you. Read the paragraph ABOVE the one that mentions you. The one that starts with "It's not a coincidence." That is where the actual subject of my post resides. My mention of you is more of an afterthought... dopey posters are frustrating when they don't even try to understand what other posters are communicating. Why exchange thoughts on a silly BBS when you have no intention of actually understanding others' perspectives or trying to learn from them? The value here is in the effort to understand each other.
  2. The irony is that those that "filter and research" - or at least think they are doing that - then end up lapping up what they are fed, too. Often times they think they can't trust mainstream media... so they end up at the kooks and wackos sites. Seems almost better for the rank and file to blindly trust Fox News than to dig into the depths of the internet sewer.
  3. Sounds about right.
  4. Did you miss my "giant hint" in my post?
  5. I don't believe Fox news is the cause - that is not something I think nor is it something I said. Fighting is mostly caused by a lack of respect for other people. Things like calling others "utterly idiotic" and such - these types of things lead to fighting. You seem angry. (Not just now, but it seems like most of your posts have an angry bent.) Hate and anger contribute little to good conversation. We've already got plenty of both, and they haven't helped us much along the way. Maybe abandoning both would be a good start.
  6. Mainly that... they are different, and they communicate very different things. Based on my 9th grade English class (thanks Mrs. Lindsey), I am able to ascertain the difference. mspart said “she said that was an irresponsible question to ask.” She said “it’s irresponsible of you to ask that question.” I'll give you a giant hint - "what" was irresponsible in the 1st, and "who" was irresponsible in the 2nd.
  7. Seriously? A bag of white stuff shows up in a gas station and someone is in jail within the hour where you live? Where do you live? Because I want to move there.
  8. My point was that Fox is still fueling the fight between the simpleton concept of "left" and "right" - which is downright criminally incorrect. This is a channel you obviously admit to watching "a lot." The "left" Fox typically references is actually the far left. The moderate left believes in strong law enforcement and fiscal responsibility. Fox is doing us all an injustice by misrepresenting that group. You haven't made any point at all in your post - just more fuel for more fighting. We already have plenty of turd posters who are here just to fight and argue. We'd rather you not be one of them.
  9. I'd take boring. Boring would be good. If you haven't been watching the news, a whole lotta places are experiencing infighting among their citizens, and general unrest for, often times, no really good reason. It's not a coincidence, it's due to those "creative liberties" you mention. Loose language, loose statistics, some verbiage with intent to outrage and - boom. Outrage, anger, and the ensuing ugliness. And then it builds upon itself. Social media is breeding anger and outrage... and then celebrating it. It's a frustrating time. But what's more frustrating, is that some dopes seem to revel in it. Look at the post just above this one - even Husker_Du posts as if he's performing at a comedy club. There's so little funny about any of this. There's a reason editorial standards and practices were so important for all of our lifetimes. Social media gives us a look at what "news" is without those standards... it's ugly.
  10. ... and this is surprising to you? So, the evolution of this becomes - can you find hundreds of opinions on any topic on media outlets all over the planet for basically any topic with even a small amount of controversy? Yes. Next - so, the internet is split on anything that isn't obvious. And we are woefully divided on anything that could possibly divide us. Yes. Wait. So, the next part, where we are all constantly divided because we all arrive with different ideas already in mind - and then we all reference different media outlets and tend to believe the ones that agree with our existing ideas. Yes. It almost seems like the internet is basically a big disrupting machine that pits us all against each other. Yes. How do we get out of this repeating cycle? Great question.
  11. That is telling... and then some.
  12. The part in blue is 100% clear here. The rest is ... basically silly. The next time you attempt to call others 'sheep'... think again. Although better than before, Fox is still supplying the sheep feed - you are obviously a regular customer.
  13. That does seem fair. (The article is worth a quick read.)
  14. WKN already killed the substance topic (well done BTW.) The question was a leading question, dumb AF. Not everyone wants Elon to fail. Although some do, both on the left and right. It isn't actually political in nature. The rest of your post is basically left=bad, blah blah, left=bad, blah blah. And you say it loudly like a mega church dope. You keep trying to portray us as being split among two sides, but we're actually not. Just straight up simpleton. There are media forces that encourage that type of behavior, you'd do best to avoid them. (Truth be told, we all would.)
  15. I'm not sure what to make of this post except that it is putrid. By you, anyone who questions this guy is categorized as "wanting him to fail" and as "sheep." That's dumb AF. Worse yet, you do the mega-church hype "say it out loud" routine to deliver it. Ughh... you fail as a con-man.
  16. A layoff is a much different thing than a firing. I've had the unfortunate responsibility of having to do both. They are much different.
  17. Another post from you w/o you even attempting to make an actual point. Just copied a tweet. Lazy and weak.
  18. That's on me, I was trying to do engineering humor. To be fair, you did kill the GIF trailer on the post.
  19. Wait - you got a license to swim? That's cool. At least for me but seems like your parents weren't as big of fans.
  20. "/s" So 285 lbs/s = 285# per second. Isn't force or torque. Google tells me it's "mass flow rate." Sounds more like a big guy doing slow jumping jacks.
  21. Really good post. In a time when so many of us are at each other's throats about our current politics- it's good to view the US from such an important historical perspective. And no better time than today.
  22. You post as if you're an expert. Would be interested in hearing your insight... Say more.
  23. "Haha, nice try"? Wake up. Twitter changed policy. What you're referring to is the past. Snap out of it. "Following" and leaving PM's? Neither is happening, you weirdo.
  24. I'm sorry Dave, I'm afraid I can't do that. But do tell more - what are the things that scare you the most? Be specific.
  25. Others have beat me to it, The "value of a college degree" is still very high compared to the investment. For the Ivy's and other institutions in that orbit, it's a relatively quick payback and, potentially, then some. As the orbit decreases in size, the payback isn't always as quick or obvious. They won't get the consistent 'best and brightest' like the top tier and that is reflected later. It gets bumpy in the middle, because the lack of top talent leads to more of a roll-the-dice payback. Some do much better than others. Just like wrestling. ... and then there's the below-middle tier. The value of these degrees isn't particularly high. Won't necessarily put you ahead "out of the gate." But kids can star here, too.
