Let me get this straight. Giant "supermatch" with stage, lights, and "all that jazz" to end the show - and, after, he says "I love wrestling." Of course, he does - he was in the main event and the center of everyone's attention. Every kid would love that. I get it - you are very proud and want to post about it even if it is bragging. Nothing wrong with that. Except, taking shots at others here on the way is seriously weak. Calling out their "resumes"? C'mon - even weaker.

Funny you should ask. I bought the car from a friends' parents - it was in the narrow alley behind their house next to the detached garage. But it was the middle of the winter, so it was literally buried in snow. "Buried" as in there was no car to be seen, just snow. Had to shovel it out, and then borrow my Dad's Jeep (and my Dad) to pull it out and drag it home. It had just enough brakes to get it done - barely. Thought it was the best $200 I ever spent. Months later... can confirm.

My 1st car (not actually my 1st one, but the 1st one I bought with my own money.) Mine was white. 1968 VW Fastback - Air cooled 1600cc dual-carb rear-engine (see the fins above rear tire for air flow) I thought it looked a little like a Porsche 911, at least from the front. Basically, a VW bug but way cooler and every bit as slow.

@jross As I've posted before, you are kind of an odd duck when it comes to your nonchalant attitude towards killing people. You make a parody of homicide. Except it's not funny at all. I'm a little worried about you. It's just weird - kind of serial killer type weird.

How about stand up, put your right hand in, your right hand out proceed to right hand in again to shake it about and turn yourself round. If you aren't interested in the matches of the OP, maybe do something hokey instead. Better for you to be bored and thought dim than to actively post to prove it.

If you aren't competing to win, then you aren't really competing. At some point the outcome does matter - otherwise, it's the very definition of insanity.

If you're burying participants with "regularity" - then I'd have to categorize it as just plain dumb. Plenty of sports to compete in where death isn't a regular result. The rest is macho BS. That's just my humble opinion.

Just like the movie "Rudy" - having a goal, committing to it, and not letting setbacks stop you... until you finally win. That makes it all worthwhile. Somehow my earlier message got twisted up. It's the winning part that makes it all worth it. You don't wrestle because you enjoy cutting weight, enjoy the miserable practices, or enjoy losing. Those things are the price you pay to be able to compete to win. If you win or lose, isn't the point. It's about believing you can win and working your butt off to do it - that's what makes wrestling what it is.

Sounds like adrenalin chasing to me. In our youth we do crazy things that risk life and limb for no really good reason. I know plenty of guys who perished in a similar pursuit - and their mothers or fathers found it less than worthwhile.

Not sure where this came from exactly, doesn't seem like it fits with the previous conversation. But yes - that's absolutely true. Embracing competition is exactly what we wrestle for. But that does NOT make losing any fun - losing always sucks. A couple L's followed by W and it's still a W - and that W makes the wrestling life keep going. Those that compete and wrestle with nothing but L's - they almost always bail. (The rare ones that stay, I'm not sure how they are wired - certainly differently. There aren't that many of them.)

This would be AWESOME. Just imagine CHA full of fans who don't get fractions. They've got their phones out, calculator apps fired up, trying to figure out the score while screaming at each other and yelling "TWO!!" and "STALLING!!" Quite a picture. I'd pay to see that. Nah, it's not about the suk, it's not about how hard it is, it's not about the sacrifice. Plain and simple, it's about winning. When your hand gets raised, it makes it all OK. And that part is addictive. (I've had this conversation many times with wrestling teammates over the years - competitive people like us, we love to win.)

... btw, I do like the (R) Congressman with the eye patch. I believe he lost an eye when he was a Navy Seal. I don't hear from him much, but when I catch anything he has to say - he's direct, honest, and no BS. From what I've seen, I'd vote for a guy like him. Why isn't he an up and comer in the (R) party instead of MTG, Bobert, and that bozo from Missouri? He is at least one decent politician I know of - I would think there are more we don't hear much from. Why aren't we hearing more from the decent politicians and LOT less from the clown-act politicians? Seems to me the political party leadership is in dire need of a shakeup.

Most of your post above (the last three paragraphs) were inflammatory remarks about how horrible it is to push children to change genders - but you're preaching to the choir. As I've said, I agree with you on that part. As we've already covered, most all people - regardless of political leaning - don't believe in pushing children to change genders. As you've said, "no thinking adult thinks this is a good thing. Not one." And you're right. Democrats aren't pushing it, and there's zero reason to think Disney is pushing it either. Wherever you got the idea from - reading or listening - you should rethink that source of information. The part of the article from the link you posted that did jump out at me was this: Looks even more like retaliation to free speech than ever. Politicians are mostly all scumbags and this one seems to be no different. Talked himself into a predicament where now he's got to fight a corporation that has hasn't been shown to have done anything wrong except to contradict a politician. Just another dirtbag politician without a moral compass or sense of responsibility when he's wrong. Both political sides are full of them. Just wish we'd have more decent politicians instead of what we've got now.

I, again, mostly agree with you. DIsney did take a position that was opposite the "Don't Say Gay" law. Many of the cast members that work at Disney are gay, and Disney supported them vocally. Those are facts, but I see no problem with them at all. This can be labelled as political, no doubt. It can also be labelled as a company standing up for its staff, or for free speech, or basic human rights and dignity. A lot of labels could be thrown around, but none will change what the basic interaction actually was. Desantis attacked Disney for speaking their opinion because it hurt him politically. They had very strong opinions that they wanted to vocalize - just as everyone else in the country has the right to do without being attacked. Government officials have no right to attack private citizens and companies who simply exercise their right to free speech. It is horribly wrong and 100% completely unacceptable in our free country. The part I put in bold above is where we disagree. Blaming what negative things some group has done in the past as an excuse to justify a current group doing similar negative things is not OK. That logic is something you'd see in grade school - the "he did it first" type argument. It's extremely weak, and I sincerely hope you abandon that line of thinking.

Except for the HUGE mistake you're making here... you're being sold a line of crap. Many Democrats agree with you on this topic. In my experience, easily the majority of democrats agree with you. I had a very similar discussion many times, too many times actually, not too long ago. Many Democrats agree that defunding the police is a terrible idea. In my experience, easily the majority. Why are you being sold a line of BS about democrats? Check your source and rethink how much you trust them. We're being played - by people who want us to take sides against each other. Even though we, for the most part, agree. The worst part about it is that it's plain, obvious, and yet still working.

I still don't see a legitimate reason here. As far as I know, Disney doesn't fund any school to teach K-3 kids that changing gender is a good idea. I don't see a path for Disney to "push to have that law removed." What were they pushing? Did they announce a plan to hire lawyers to sue the state of FL over it? I did see that Disney's CEO used the free speech that we, as Americans, have and made a public statement about it. That's all I could find. I 100% understand the concept that adults shouldn't be pushing children toward gender reassignment. And that children aren't equipped to make that kind of a decision, especially K-3. I'm not in favor of that either. I'm also not in favor of taking Christmas away, taking the suburbs away, or any of the other myths and conspiracy theories that have been pushed by politicians. From where I sit, it looks mostly like retribution by Desantis to go after Disney for exercising their right to free speech by speaking out against Desantis. Like something straight out of Moscow or Beijing - speak your mind, and you'll pay a heavy price... It's downright unamerican.

I'm wondering what the point of this FL v Disney mess is supposed to be. It seems to me that this attack on Disney is taking time away from Ron's administration's ability to govern and work to solve FL's problems. It is costing the taxpayers a ton of money - that could be better used to solve the states problems and better the state. What was Disney doing that requires an assault on them to become a top priority? Aren't Republicans usually in favor of smaller government that leaves corporations alone to do their business? Was it really because the company is left leaning and employs a significant number of gay people? A government that attacks corporations because they lean in the opposite political direction than said government - that is a frightening thought. Or because of the sexual orientation profile of their pool of employee's - even more frightening. Apple better watch this closely. There must be some legitimate reason. I must have missed it. And - while I try to dig that up - I'll also try to find out the legitimate reason Ron's group spent millions transporting migrants around the country like cattle. Can't figure out what that was supposed to accomplish. There must be answers. Governing couldn't have possibly become a series of side-show antics strung together to make political headlines. Could it?
