Just giving my two cents on the topic. If there is a legit concern that the board is dying, wrestling content and enthusiasm for the sport is the way to keep it alive. I’m sharing this perspective because I’ve seen a few discussion boards die (hobby and work related) and there’s no reason this one can’t thrive… I’m not here to troll yall Of course maybe I’m misreading it all lol. I’m just wondering what this forum has to do with any fanbase. There’s like 100 people here on a busy day. Most fanbases IRL are pretty similar, well meaning alums and townies with a few drunks and jerks mixed in.

Nobody screwed him over. It was his choice to leave and coach with his mentor. And it was clear from the time he arrived that no promises were made to him, verbal or otherwise. I’m sure Perry wanted the HC job too but it’s a state school, everybody had to interview for the position.

This board overreacts. A push out point is one option to address the subjectivity of edge-of-mat stall calls. More wrestlers would learn dive unders and ways to not get moved with their leg up in the air. It's also an option to get rid of edge-of-mat stall calls altogether.

This happened in Cox vs Carroll. Cox didn't do jack, got put on the clock, Carroll couldn't score got put on the clock, Cox wins on criteria. Interlocking fingers got called about half the time, other half the refs ignore it. Maybe they didn't see? After takedowns there was anywhere from 5-15 seconds given for par terre. Not real consistent. As with folkstyle in freestyle you can't let the ref decide the winner. Tough when so many of these cats are super high level athletes. But I did see enough ref interference in these matches to think maybe there were decisions made as to who they wanted to send to the Olympics.

That was a screwy deal for sure. I don't think John did it to help his kid... Joe had higher scoring potential at NCAAs and won the ranking match. Chandler was exciting and a pinning threat always but not an All American threat, while Joe at his peak was a 2x AA and hanging within a point of Mark Hall. However Joe didn't certify at the weight to start the season, so you can definitely argue that there should not have been a late season ranking match.

Exactly. Some guys didn't improve but there are guys on each roster that did. Preston Weigel and Derek White were both on Kaid Brock's team and those guys went from nothing to the NCAA finals. The reason I want a new coach is so OSU can have someone driving the ship that is genuinely on board with new paradigms in the sport.
