  1. And doesn't he have the Pan Am qualifier right around the same time as Nationals?
  2. Remember this quote in the future.
  3. Actually, I do know. I wrestled in college, at a lower level, and I took some beatings. I know how it feels to go to the trainer and get my ankle taped, my ribs taped, my thumb taped, etc. and still practice and still weigh in and still wrestle.
  4. "Speaking their own truths." And prob not faking his ouchie. Does Foca have any ouchies? Or did he need a ranked win at 184?
  5. When I read the post about the age of Cornell fans, I instantly thought of Lehigh. I knew that Gimp would beat me to a response though!
  6. Yes, but both Gable and Gibbons seemed to think that dual win was what propelled them to a title the next year. It was a breakthrough.
  7. Way, way older than WWE
  8. If only college athletes and RTCs had access to labs that do regular blood tests and handle training, nutrition, and supplementation for athletes who are regularly trying to beat USADA/WADA tests.
  9. The national champ/Olympian was questioning the validity of NCAA tests within the past year. The masking agent stuff was quite a while ago.
  10. No. Plus, trophies should never be named for a person unless they are dead or retired.
  11. Continuing on: I have also heard a national champ/Olympian question the validity. I trained with an World/Olympic placer (non-USA) for 3+ years who, though he never admitted to PED abuse, he was selling a masking agent to athletes at a local college. This same competitor had previously been associated with one of the top clubs and programs in our country.
  12. I had at least three athletes of shorter stature that were legally prescribed hGH when I was a high school coach at a very ritzy private school. These are the kids that I am aware of. I'm not even counting this as doping.
  13. Well, I know someone who doped and was really worried about his results, took 2nd in nationals, urinated in a cup... and never heard about it again. Is that good enough for you?
  14. Regular eligibility is exhausted. He made it sound like he's done.
  15. Which appeal though? Gambling or Medical RS?
  16. No one asks guys to wrestle 50 matches. Just ones on the schedule.
  17. I question the legitimacy of these tests, what they test for, and how accurate they are, and I have heard NCAA champs/Olympians also question them.
  18. If this was UWW, we would be told that 125 was the best and deepest weight class because so many guys are capable of winning titles/placing. (ala 65 kg)
  19. After watching "The Dual" on Prime, I was impressed by how much camaraderie there is/was between those Iowa and Iowa State squads. Multiple Iowa State guys spoke fondly of Alger and his actions before, during, and after their college careers. He seems beloved by those guys. As I may have mentioned before, he is also tight with the Smith family, which is why he wears the cowboy hat to Oklahoma State duals. Particularly amusing was Van Arsdale's story of he and Alger riding together on a float for the Lisbon, IA sauerkraut festival. I think he is firmly out of heel territory.
  20. I was just thinking about how I just watched "The Dual" on Amazon Prime. Pretty good little show. It never would have existed if Iowa or Iowa State held out their "hurt" guys. Also: Iowa used the loss to propel their team to one of the greatest postseason runs ever, while Iowa State built upon their win with a national title the next year. Lessons are learned from both wins and losses in tough matches.
