  1. Nice handshake by Carter! Such a great kid! (Remember the time that he almost got teched by Dierenger but screamed to get out of a leg lace... then talked crap to Dierenger on the way off the mat?)
  2. Poor Basch. Most viewers of the sport probably would have predicted this or a similar result. Not Basch. Picks Bartlett despite plenty of evidence to the contrary. It is fine to pick underdogs, but in doing so, the guy ignores actual evidence... because NLWC. In Bartlett's defense, he has closed the gap from their last two meetings, I think.
  3. "lightening?" Did he have a big weight cut?
  4. That is giving Gomez a LOT of credit.
  5. Exactly. Really? What happened with Scrap Life?
  6. Theoretically they could meet at non-Olympic WTT, if neither makes the team and both decide to give 79 kg a go. (JB could hang around a few months to attempt one more world title)
  7. Don't be surprised if he stays home.
  8. Sets up a potential first round match between two of the biggest "blow bags" in amateur wrestling.
  9. Multiple equipment failures. Both the stick and his helmet did not protect him as intended and the stick was wielded by a very large, very powerful man. Combine all that with freak bad luck.
  10. I saw a d3 bout where a guy dislocated his elbow and tried to lift his arm, but his forearm just dangled grotesquely as he stared at it quizzically. His opponent, the guy who initiated the action that let to the injury, ran to the nearest garbage barrel and vomited.
  11. Well, he whines to the ref almost as much as Dake, so I can see grounds for comparison.
  12. Yep, dad made the announcement. Where have I heard this one before?
  13. Dake disagrees, but this "tough crowd" (reality) seems to differ. Oh well.
  14. What are your thoughts on Burroughs?
  15. I think the problem was that he overly relied on one thing, and probably not the best thing.
  16. Also didn't mention fantasy match records.
  17. It is interesting to hear Tom Ryan say (for the millionth time) that Gable had no clue who he was when he went from Syracuse to Iowa. That was not my understanding. My high school teammate wrestled at Syracuse with Ryan and he called the transfer probably two years before it happened. At the time, I did not believe him... but it ended up being true.
  18. I enjoy Askren's impression, too. We were about to lose that when Ben leaves FRL in a week or two, but the announcement gives him an opportunity to do it. Otherwise, we may have never heard it again.
  19. Last Worlds, it looked like he thought the name of the sport was "chest-wrapping" and forgot about the whole "wrestling" thing.
  20. I, for one, will miss Coach Smith's interactions with the media. He wasn't one to pull punches!
  21. They must have thought he still represented Cuba.
