good point. if you look at fishbane's long list of guys with high career loss numbers, guessing almost all took the brunt of those early in career. Bono for example lost 27 his 1st two seasons and then only 7 his last two years.

Kirk Trost from Michigan (heavyweight champ in '86) had 48 career losses. edit - an intermat article has him with 48, nwhof has him with 43.

Jeff Walter from Wisconsin (heavyweight champ in '96) had 43 career losses.

App St starters in general have wrestled a good amount, I didn't go all the way down the rabbit hole as far as how many are vs D1, but per wrestlestat their starters have 24, 20, 21, 25, 34, 29, 27, 21, 26, and 21 matches.
