  1. Reminder that the draft begins at 3PM EASTERN today, not noon.
  2. Have you heard anything from @scorenomore? Other than him, it looks right. My previous list of 12 had MM2018 listed twice. Our gamblers anonymous president, @nhs67, had offered to enter in the JV league if there were open spots.
  3. Not sure. The post was made within the past 24 hrs. Perhaps he changed his handle?
  4. He already did that. @Show_Me was referring Peterson's B1G performance.
  5. from earlier in the thread, there's also: @MM2018 @Kov88 @Friendlycamper and MICHIGANMADE (@ mentioning doesn't pull him up)
  6. Not familiar with the situation. What happened?
  7. You are correct. I'm sitting in the Pacific time zone and copied what I setup in my local time zone for the Zoom. 3PM EASTERN TIME.
  8. General information Entry Fee: $25 paid to VakAttack via Venmo The field has been confirmed as follows: Draft: Sunday, March 16, 2023 @ 12:00pm EDT (last year's draft lasted ~2:15 hours) Link to Draft Board (I recommend you bookmark this link, as I will make scoring updates after each session in this file) Once everyone is logged into the draft, I’ll randomly sort the participant list to determine draft order. Draft picks will be made in this thread, facilitated by VakAttack (i.e., he’ll prompt you to pick if you’re running slow.) I will log the pick on the Draft Board as it is made. Time to make your selection will be loosely policed at 1 minute. The selection process will take place in a reversing-snake pattern. i.e., the selection order works as follows: Round 1: 1 through 15 Round 2: 15 through 1 Note: #1 and #15 will make two consecutive picks as the order reverses itself round-to-round Each participant selects a wrestler for each weight class (125-285), plus one ‘Wild Card’. The ‘Wild Card’ can be selected any time during the draft process. The penalty for excessive lateness during a selection will result in the pick being skipped for that round, and that pick moved to the end of draft. (VakAttack’s discretion). Withdrawal/Replacement Policy (a.k.a., the "Jerry Callo / Connor McGonagle Rule"): Keep in mind you are picking a wrestler, not a bracket position. If your selection does not make weight, fails skin check, or pulls a Suriano... you are stuck with that guy. If your selection withdrawals from the tournament prior to 5pm EDT on Wednesday, you can make a replacement pick. You need to let @VakAttack and @lu_alum know the name of your replacement pick prior to weigh-ins on the first day of the tournament (Thursday, 10am EDT). Zoom We're setting up a Zoom again this year. It helped to move picks along more quickly if folks aren't frequently refreshing their forum chat browser. Zoom is completely optional - official picks will be made/posted in this forum chat thread. If you want to connect via Zoom, send me @lu_alum a PM with your email address & I'll send the link. If you don’t want to send your email address, I’ll post the Zoom meeting information in a group DM. Scoring All eleven selections (125-285, plus WC) count toward the participants summary score. Scoring will be downloaded from TrackWrestling (data provided using My Wrestlers) at the end of each round and updated/published on the same Google Sheet used for the Draft. I recommend that you create a list with your wrestlers on Track to double check my math. Payout VakAttack runs the money side of this operation. The top four will get paid as follows: 1st Place: $200 2nd Place: $100 3rd Place: $50 4th Place: $25 (money back) The entry fees should total $375 ($25 x 15 players). Suggestions I highly recommend that you open two browser windows. One to monitor this selection thread and make picks; the other to monitor the draft board (follow the selection order & see who is still available on the Draft Board). NOTE: You will need to refresh the thread frequently to keep up with selections being made and avoid missing your turn due to a time penalty. If you weren't already aware, the F5 key will do this. The Draft Board will update in real time. 9. OK… this is the hard part. IF there is a JV draft, here are the times I can do it: All times Eastern Sun: noon - 2:30p. (Varsity draft starts at 3p) Sat: after 4:30p Mon: 8p - 10:30p Tue: 8p - 10:30p Wed: 8p - 10:30p I’m allocating 2:30 hrs, as last year’s was done in 2:15 hrs. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  10. You lost me with, “Wrestlestat had…” Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  11. Remember back when SuperRobPA (Rob Waltko, North Allegheny HS / Bucknell University) posted while he was competing in HS? Finished his HS career w a 146-18 record, 2x PIAA AAA finalist, 1x champ. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  12. That’s so funny. I thought about relegation as well. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  13. I will post a message later today that summarizes the contest, the draft process, the Zoom call, and general suggestions to make Sunday run smoothly. In the interim, if you can send me a DM with your email address, I can send the Zoom call information. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  14. All Star (and prior year performances) don’t count for Win Pct, RPI, H2H, Quality Opponents. However, right or wrong, All Star (and prior years) influence the Coaches’ Rank. Regardless, Starocci was ranked higher than Keck in the various ranking services before the All Star bout. The decision to participate in the All Star is moot. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  15. Ancient history (2021), but Beard is 1-0 against Buchanan.
  16. I run a random sort to determine draft order once everyone joins the call on Sunday. I listed them alphabetically for now, with a separation for those who have paid v not. (according to what I've seen in the thread)
  17. Draft board is set up and ready to go. Just need @VakAttack to confirm the final three participants. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1RhBfD4n3dzCeq8oPZmQHaTZw2wCfIIE4PALP0ZZB7sE/edit?gid=0#gid=0
  18. Wild cards haven’t existed since the current conference allocation process was introduced. Wild cards (and the back room deal-making) went away when the five-year rolling R12 average was stopped. I think this occurred in 2010? At Large bids are extended in today’s qualifying structure. 19. Not really. Nathan Galloway did it in 2007, transferring from Penn State to Rider in January... https://www.psucollegian.com/archives/galloway-quits-psu-wrestling/article_48088c8e-d595-5883-977a-3eca0b77dc2f.html https://gobroncs.com/news/2007/1/18/3627625 Sunderland pulls Bubba's shirt, setting the stage future issues when Carl came along in 2009. https://www.psucollegian.com/archives/jenkins-says-he-was-asked-to-leave-wrestling-team/article_acb90595-137c-56ae-9e43-93e4f5ab57da.html
  20. Looking back to 2017 (when the current criteria was introduced), I didn't see any #1 seeds that took a loss at their qualifying tournament.
  21. Quality Win definition:
  22. Cuban boxer? I think he passed away a few years ago. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  23. It seems that Harrison doesn't understand the difference between the play-by-play announcer and color commentary roles.
