See my post on the effect of the 3-point TD. I believe that has had some impact.
-
It seems to me that, in bouts with evenly matched competitors, the risk/reward to a 3-pt TD has resulted in fewer takedown attempts. We definitely have seen the increase in bonus point results, but I believe we've also seen more 1-1 matches going to SV as a result. Thoughts?

Is the "Suriano Curse" officially broken?

Quick analysis heading into the finals. Premier League: @Perry appears to have the championship locked up. The real battle is for 2nd through 4th, with 11.5 points separating @killdozer, @JvStateChamp1, @Gage, and @flyingcement. Champion League: There are two battles in play. At the top of the scoreboard, @Kov88 still leads @jajensen09 by one-half point. They both have a chance for three champs, with a head-to-head battle at 141. @Cornell Kevin and @charmon55 are in a tight race for 3rd & 4th. Cornell Kevin leads, but charmon55 has more finalists. They will go head-to-head at 197. Reminder... payouts are as follows:

Sparks has done a great job in utilizing Hidlay’s knowledge. I typically criticize Sparks for not knowing whether his role is play-by-play or color commentator. With Hidlay at his side, Sparks has done a great job of tossing Hidlay questions as set ups. Classic examples being things like, “How would you wrestle through that position.” Together, they’ve managed to give both the layman and experienced fan insight that we rarely (if ever) have received before in an easily understood manner. Premier League: Looks like @Perry has a firm grip on 1st place, with a 24.5 point lead and four finalists. The real race is for 2nd-4th, as there are six guys within ten points of one another. ( @killdozer @JvStateChamp1 @Gage @steamboat_charlie @flyingcement @Idaho ) Champion League: Only 0.5 points separate @Kov88 and @jajensen09. Kov88 has more AAs, but jajensen09 has more finalists. jajensen09 is assured a champ at 157, as he selected both finalists (Blaze was his WC). Kov88's finalists are: Ayala, Mendez, Mesenbrink; jajensen09's finalists are: Hardy, Lovett, and Taylor/Blaze. 3rd/4th is another race to watch, as there are four guys within 13 points of each other. @steamboat_charlie with a +5 move with Seymour, Mendez, Shapiro in the SF. Will his Ivy-loaded lineup deliver? He's also got the following for a R12 lineup: Ramirez, Ruiz, Foca, Feldman, and Van Dee. His lineup screams of last year's EIWA schools: 125 Seymour, Lehigh 149 Whalen, Princeton 157 Shapiro, Cornell 165 Ramirez, Cornell 174 Ruiz, Cornell 184 Foca, Cornell

Why the hell is there a table on top of the mat?
lu_alum replied to romesone's topic in College Wrestling
NCAA rulebook states there must be at least 5-feet of mat space from the OOB line. I'm sure Resilite made the mats to meet this requirement, but it seems the scorer's tables are on (or overlap) the mat. -
As someone who grew up in Central PA, it's great to hear Hidlay school Sparks about what wrestling is like outside the upper Midwest. There's nothing like the wrestling culture that exists in small town rural PA.

All set for the tournament. I've got every mat, the main broadcast, and Matcast saved to My Stuff in Hulu...
